POLICE - INCREASED TRAFFIC CHECKS OVER EASTER HOLIDAY

 Filenews 30 April 2024

The Cyprus Police, as every year, during the Easter and Resurrection festive period, will take increased road safety measures in order to protect citizens travelling on the road network.

Due to the expected increased traffic during the holiday season, between Maundy Thursday and Easter Monday, 02-06 May, the presence of the Police on the main roads of the cities, on interurban roads and motorways, will be intense, with the Police personnel working continuously with increased patrols, traffic regulation, and traffic controls, to prevent road traffic collisions and increase safety on the road network.

During traffic checks, as always, zero tolerance will be given to offences that are the main causes of serious and fatal road collisions, such as exceeding the speed limit, driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, not wearing seat belts by drivers and passengers of cars and protective helmets by motorcyclists, distraction using a mobile phone or other object while driving and dangerous Overtaking.

The Police advise drivers to be careful while driving, observe the traffic code and comply with traffic signs and the instructions of on-duty police officers.
