The new central station of public transport in Paphos, the works to upgrade the public transport network throughout the low area and the replacement of the largest part of the bus fleet, have already drastically changed the data in the sector in 2024, marking a new era for public transport in Paphos.
This is pointed out by Pafos district officials, stressing that the new facilities of the Organization, operating since last September in the traditional area of "Karavella", have already contributed to the improvement of the services provided and the daily life of passengers. About 12,000 passengers per day are now served appropriately for local and intercity routes, they observe.
Following the completion of the new premises in "Karavella", as well as the two new transfer stations in the tourist areas of the Tombs of the Kings and a small port, however, the competent authorities of the province turn their attention to the many other projects that need to be carried out in order to be able to say that Pafos has acquired modern public transport infrastructure.
The focus is now on improving stops and shelters, since both inside and outside urban areas the situation is considered unacceptable. In many cases, there are not even shelters and if there are they are dissimilar and diverse both in design, construction and materials, while they do not include any trace of technology.
The important thing is, city officials observe, that the operation of the brand new central station of Pafos public transport has already stimulated economic activity and greatly improved the connectivity of tourist areas in Paphos, Geroskipou and Pegeia.
