"Varosha European Fenced-off City" is a documentary that reminds and awakens. The aim of the production and communication of the documentary is to make known to an international field the status quo that prevails for 50 years in the fenced city of Varosha. At the same time, to remind everyone that Varosha, from an important Mediterranean resort with a strong cultural character in 1974, has been transformed into a military zone forbidden to European citizens within European territory.
With interviews with important personalities, the documentary highlights the unknown adventure of the walled city of Varosha. Aiming at the accurate and scientific recording of the indisputable facts, the documentary seeks to thoroughly inform the international community. The aim is to attract the attention of international organisations, contributing to the emergence of the truth and the proper guidance of the decision-making process.
The conception of the idea and its production is an initiative of Mr. Tonis Toumazis in collaboration with the team "Varosha Initiative" and Green Olive Productions.
The first screening of "Varosha European Fenced-off City" took place in August 2023 by CyBC and for this year further strategic partnerships with TV channels abroad are being studied.
As the documentary prepares to travel to the rest of the world, on April 8, 2024 it will be screened at an event organized at the initiative of MEP Loukas Fourlas in Brussels.
