Police arrested two people, aged 52 and 25, yesterday to facilitate investigations into an ongoing case of car theft and illegal possession of property.

Specifically, around 7 p.m. Yesterday, members of the Pedoulas Police Station stopped for inspection, a car that was moving on a road in the area of responsibility of the Station. During the check, it was found that the engine of the vehicle belongs to another car, which had been reported to the Police, as stolen, on April 12, 2024.

As a result, the driver and co-driver of the vehicle, aged 52 and 25 respectively, were arrested for the offence of unlawful possession of property, and later re-arrested under a court warrant.

The theft of the vehicle was reported to the Stroumbi Police Station on the morning of April 12. According to the owner of the vehicle, the car was stolen during the night of April 11-12, 2024, while parked, outside his home, in a village in the Paphos district.

This morning the two arrested appeared before the Pafos District Court, which issued a four-day detention order against them to facilitate interrogations.

A six-day detention order was issued today by the Larnaca District Court against two persons, aged 38 and 25, who were arrested yesterday to facilitate investigations in relation to an ongoing robbery case.

The robbery was committed at noon on April 15, 2024, in Larnaca. According to what he reported to the police, a 26-year-old man, while walking on a street in Larnaca, an unknown person, who got out of a car parked nearby, attacked him in order to take away his bag, which he had on his shoulder. As a result, the complainant fell to the ground and was dragged on the asphalt. The assailant, after managing to wrest the bag from the 26-year-old, boarded the vehicle again, where a second person was staying and fled.

According to the complainant, the bag contained a sum of money, credit cards and various personal documents and belongings.

The 26-year-old was injured in the attack. He visited Larnaka General Hospital, where it was found that he suffered a fracture in his left arm, while he also has various abrasions and friction burns. After receiving first aid, he was discharged.

Subsequent police examinations revealed testimony against two people, aged 38 and 25, against whom judicial arrest warrants were issued. After evaluating specific information, the 38-year-old and 25-year-old were located yesterday and arrested under court warrants.

This morning, they were brought before the Larnaca District Court, which issued a six-day detention order against them.

Police have made eight arrests for the attempted murder of 34-year-old Dimitris Andronikos, known as "Dimitroui", that occurred on the Palaichori-Anthoupoli road on April 23.

They are two 28-year-olds, 31-year-olds, 39-year-olds, 48-year-old and 49-year-olds, and two other people, aged 28 and 30, were arrested in the same case to facilitate interrogations.

According to the Police, a number of houses were searched and documents were received, which are being evaluated.

The 34-year-old was shot three times after leaving the Lakatamia police station, where he had gone to visit two friends detained on suspicion of the arson of two betting shops committed last week in Nicosia and owned by the same company.

Car arson in Trachoni, Limassol mobilized the Fire Brigade and Police.

According to police, the fire was set around midnight in a vehicle parked in an apartment complex in Trachoni, after flammable material was placed.

The fire then spread to four other vehicles parked at the site.

The vehicles suffered extensive damage, while as shown by the investigations so far, the fire seems to have been set maliciously.

Police investigations are ongoing, while statements will be taken and CCTV will be examined.

A quantity of cannabis with a total gross weight of 80 grams was found yesterday by members of YKAN, during a search in an apartment in Limassol.

Police are investigating a case of illegal possession of drugs for the purpose of supplying another person and money laundering, while two persons have been arrested to facilitate interrogations.

The search of the apartment in question was carried out yesterday afternoon, pursuant to a court warrant, which was obtained after evaluating specific information. Present at the search were both residents of the apartment, aged 27 and 26.

During the search, in the 27-year-old's bedroom, a nylon package containing a quantity of cannabis, with a gross weight of approximately 78 grams, was located and confiscated.

In the 26-year-old's bedroom, a nylon package containing a quantity of cannabis, with a gross weight of approximately 2 grams, was also found and confiscated, as well as a crusher, with a small amount of cannabis.

The two tenants of the apartment were arrested for a flagrant offense and were taken to the offices of the district unit of YKAN, in Limassol. After questioning, the 26-year-old was charged in writing and released to be summoned to court, while the 27-year-old was detained to facilitate interrogations.

The YKAN (Limassol District Unit) is investigating the case.

Moments of terror lived a 23-year-old in Limassol who was attacked by her ex-partner and his brother while in her vehicle.

Specifically, on April 23, 2024, a 23-year-old foreigner reported that on April 21, at around 4:30 in the afternoon, while she was with her vehicle parked on the Limassol seafront, a car suddenly parked next to her, from which a 22-year-old foreign ex-partner got off, and after approaching her, attacked her.

He then pushed her involuntarily into her car and headed in an unknown direction.

On the way, according to the complaint, the 23-year-old noticed that the vehicle the 22-year-old was previously in was following them, while threatening to hurt her and hitting her.

At some point, both cars stopped at an unknown location. Then the 24-year-old foreign brother of the 22-year-old, who was the driver of the vehicle that was following them, got out and threatened her, pointed a knife at her and injured her.

The 22-year-old then put the 23-year-old in the passenger seat and followed his 24-year-old brother to a bank branch in Limassol. There, the 24-year-old, at knifepoint, forced the 23-year-old to hand over €200.

The two suspects were arrested last night by members of the ICF and OPE Limassol and are being brought before a Court today.

A complaint to the police for extorting money through false representations led to the arrest of a 34-year-old man in Limassol.

Specifically, on 20/4/24 a foreigner reported to the ICF of Limassol that on 17/4 through a social media platform he located an apartment for rent in Limassol.

As he said, through another person he contacted the phone number that the ad had and spoke with a person, who referred him to another person and contacted a third person and arranged a meeting with the alleged tenant / owner in the area of the apartment Limassol.

Then, as he complained, he went there with other relatives, where they met a person of African origin, who introduced himself to him as an associate of the owner of the apartment and after they agreed, the complainant gave the amount of €2800, which related to two months' rent and other expenses.

On 18/4 the real owner of the apartment found that the complainant along with other relatives settled in his apartment and after it was found that they were deceived, they left the house.

On 26/4 the complainant allegedly found on the same platform a new advertisement concerning the same data and arranged a new meeting.

When they met, the 34-year-old suspect allegedly fled, was stopped by the complainant and then the police were called.

The suspect was summoned to the ICF of Limassol where, under questioning, he made various allegations which are being investigated. He was arrested on a court warrant and taken into custody.

The ICF Limassol continues the examinations.
