The Police have arrested a 35-year-old man in connection with an ongoing case of an electricity transformer from an EAC facility in the district of Larnaka.
According to the Police, the theft of the transformer was committed last September, 2023, in an area of Aradippou. Evidence emerged against the 35-year-old suspect during the investigation of the case by the Aradippou Police Station and a court arrest warrant was issued against him.
Shortly before 11.00 on Saturday night, members of the Famagusta Police Directorate, during checks carried out in the Xylotymbou area, to tackle serious and organized crime, stopped the 35-year-old for a check and proceeded to arrest him under the court warrant issued against him. He was taken into custody for the purpose of investigating the case.

Incidents between a number of people from Syria took place on Friday night in Nicosia, specifically in the area of Aglantzia. As a result of the altercation, three people ended up in hospital.
According to the police, two young men aged 18 and 22 went injured to Nicosia General Hospital. There, on-duty medics found that the 18-year-old had a chest wound and was detained for treatment, while the 22-year-old suffered minor injuries and was discharged.
The two told police they were attacked by a group of people. After some time, a third person went to the police, who reported that he was attacked by a group of people in the same place as the 18-year-old and the 22-year-old. The third person was also taken to hospital, where he was held for treatment.
The ICF Nicosia continues the examinations.
