CRIME ROUND UP

The Paphos District Court imposed a three-month prison sentence on Thursday against a 34-year-old man for driving under the influence of drugs and other traffic violations.

According to the Assistant Police Director of Paphos Operations, Michalis Nikolaou, the offenses were committed in the year 2022.

Yesterday, April 11, the 34-year-old appeared in the District Court for the announcement of his sentence and was given concurrent prison terms with a maximum of three months, six penalty points and a disqualification from driving for six months after his release.

The Aliens and Immigration Service (YAM) arrested three people as part of a coordinated operation carried out on Thursday, in Paphos, to identify and arrest illegally staying foreigners.

According to the Assistant Police Director of Paphos Operations, Michalis Nikolaou, on the morning of April 11, YAM members carried out checks in the center of Paphos as well as in the Geroskipou area.

During the operation, three persons were arrested for illegally staying on the territory of the Republic, Mr. Nikolaou told KYPE.  In conclusion, he said that their deportation procedures are on track.
