A 16-year-old fan of the Paphos football team was arrested by the police after the end of the cup match last night at Stelios Kyriakides between the Paphos team and Apollon Limassol.

He was spotted by the stadium's CCTV lighting a torch during the match.

The 16-year-old was taken to the police station where in the presence of his parents he was charged and released.

A post on social media was the cause of a fierce fight in Kissonerga that resulted in the injury of two people.

According to the police, the post that was made deeply disturbed a young Greek Cypriot who asked for an explanation. A meeting was even arranged to resolve their differences in person.

The person mentioned in this post went to the meeting with two friends and during the fight that followed two people were injured. In the same case, police are looking for two other youths.

A seventy-six-year-old woman was allegedly found to have stolen alcoholic beverages and other products from a Paphos market and was arrested to facilitate interrogations.

According to Paphos Assistant Police Director of Operations Michalis Nicolaou, on April 10, 2024 at 17:30, a worker at a Paphos supermarket noticed an elderly woman exiting the supermarket without going through the cashier and paying for products, which she had allegedly previously hidden in a bag.  She was stopped and the police were called to the scene. As it turned out, she is a 76-year-old woman.

An investigation found, according to police, that she had stolen a number of alcoholic beverages and some other products.

The 76-year-old was taken to the Paphos Police Offices, pleaded guilty and was subsequently charged in writing and released to be summoned later.

The target of bombers was a real estate agency, owned by a 39-year-old man, in Limassol.

According to the ICF of Limassol, the explosion occurred in the early morning hours, at the entrance of the business, located in the area of Agios Ioannis, and the scene was cordoned off by members of the Police.

Pyrotechnic examinations revealed that the explosion was due to the detonation of an improvised high-power explosive device, which damaged the entrance.

Police in Limassol handcuffed a couple of foreigners from Sri Lanka on Tuesday afternoon (9/4) in connection with a case of obtaining a driver's license through false representations.

The two suspects, 43 and 44 years old, respectively, were brought yesterday before the Limassol District Court, which ordered their detention for a period of two days.

The two suspects are being investigated whether they belong to a tentacle ring in Turkey where a person arranges to obtain fake foreign driving licenses, mainly addressed to foreign persons. The investigation of the case began after an evaluation of information obtained by the Police.

According to the information, in a package that arrived at a courier company in Limassol from Turkey, there were false documents. Members of the Police went to the company's offices, where they located the specific package in which was a driver's license of a European country, with details of a specific foreign person.

Further examinations secured testimony against a 43-year-old and a 44-year-old woman, on the basis of which judicial arrest warrants were issued. Also, a couple of foreigners from Sri Lanka were handcuffed on Tuesday afternoon (9/4) by the Police in Limassol in connection with a case of obtaining a driver's license with false representations. The two suspects, 43 and 44 years old, respectively, were brought yesterday before the Limassol District Court, which ordered their detention for a period of two days.

It is not excluded that many foreigners hold fake driving licenses and circulate on Cypriot roads, possibly uninsured.

The Famagusta District Court today imposed a 24-month prison sentence on a 21-year-old man who was found guilty after hearing a case concerning offences committed during the transport of a number of irregular migrants by sea boat in the Famagusta area last December.

The case, according to a police statement, concerned the arrival of 22 irregular migrants, by sea boat, in the area of free Famagusta, on December 30, 2023.

Among them was the 21-year-old, who was subsequently arrested by members of the Police, pursuant to a court warrant, for offences of illegal entry into the Republic, and aiding the illegal entry of third-country nationals into the Republic.

The case had been investigated by the Famagusta ICF.
