The duration of the framework agreement is set at six years from signature. It is also provided that implementing contracts may be concluded up to the expiry of the duration of the framework agreement. However, the duration of implementing contracts may exceed the expiry time of the framework agreement. The deadline for online submission of applications is 24 May 2024.

ADMIE has already contracted with Nexans for the construction, in Norway, of the cable that will be required for the interconnection between Cyprus and Crete. The contract is worth a total of €1.4 billion. After August 2024 and in the absence of any other development, IPTO will be committed for the entire amount of the agreement.

The Greek Transmission Operator expects that by August the pending consultations with the Cypriot Government and CERA will be closed, in particular for the final investment decision for the participation of the Cypriot state in the share capital of Great Sea Interconnector, a subsidiary of IPTO for the execution of the interconnection, but also for reaching an agreement with CERA for the commencement of IPTO cost recovery for interconnection, through a special fee to be paid by electricity consumers through their electricity bill.
