ANNOUNCEMENT BY THE PRESIDENCY OF THE REPUBLIC OF CYPRUS ON APPOINTMENT OF DR CHRISTODOULOS PATSALIDES AS GOVERNOR OF THE CENTRAL BANK OF CYPRUS

 


Announcement by the Presidency of the Republic of Cyprus on the appointment of Dr. Christodoulos Patsalides as Governor of the Central Bank of Cyprus

The President of the Republic Mr. Nikos Christodoulides, exercising his constitutional powers, has decided to appoint Dr. Christodoulos Patsalides as Governor of the Central Bank of Cyprus (CBC).

Dr. Patsalides was appointed in March 2023 by the President of the Republic as his Special Advisor on Economic Affairs.

With extensive experience in senior positions in the banking sector, he worked at the CBC and continued his career in the private sector, while in 2018-2019 he served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association of Cyprus Banks. He retired from the private sector in October 2020. Subsequently, he provided advisory services in Cyprus and abroad in the areas of banking and insurance, fund management and financial technology.

He is an economist and holds a PhD Economics from the London School of Economics, University of London (1989).

Dr. Patsalidis is appointed and assumes his duties as of 11 April, succeeding the current Governor, Mr. Konstantinos Herodotou.

The President of the Republic wishes to express his thanks to Dr. Herodotou for their cooperation.

He also expresses warm thanks to Mr. Herodotou for his services during a critical period for the country's economy.
