OPENING OF PARK OF COLOURS IN FINAL STRAIGHT

The integration of the Municipal Park of Colours into the fabric of Pafos' urban infrastructure and its enjoyment by its society entered the final stretch. At a special ceremony held this morning at the Park, the Mayor of Pafos and the preferred bidder signed the contract for the granting of a license for the full management of the Park with a validity period of seven years with the possibility of renewal for another seven years.

The contract was the result of an open-public tender conducted by the Municipality. It concerns the granting of a license for the use of all the Park's infrastructure: cafeteria, three sports areas, climbing wall, toilets/changing rooms, playground, skate park, tennis court, parking and common areas. The licensee will undertake the obligation of maintenance and sprucing of the entire Park, having the right for the commercial exploitation of the starting point, the sports areas and the climbing wall.

Speaking during the ceremony, Phedon Phedonos highlighted the importance of the Municipal Park of Colours, pointing out that the project, being the largest in area of its kind in Cyprus, approximately 32,000 square meters, and featuring rich greenery and a wide range of infrastructure and facilities, comes to enrich the urban infrastructure of the city and the possibilities of quality recreation of its inhabitants. contributing to the improvement of their quality of life.

He pointed out that what gives special value to the Park is the fact that while it is located in the city center, due to its extent, morphology and landscape/design, it gives the visitor / patron the feeling that he is in a secluded space with quiet, in an environment of tranquility.

The Park was formed into Turkish-Cypriot owned land that was leased to the Municipality. It has square gathering areas, playground for children, starting point, botanical garden, basketball court, tennis court, small football field, roller skating rink, climbing wall, outdoor exhibition area, sanitary facilities, 83 parking spaces (including spaces for disabled people), central route etc. The total cost of construction and equipment of the Park amounted to €3.6 million. approximately.
