Pafos Live 13 March 2024
In the final stage are the works for the creation in Pafos of a monument dedicated to the 200 years since the National Rebirth. The project was awarded, after a relevant competition, to the architectural office Lambrianos Koutsolambrou Architects Ltd, the sculptor Arsentis Lisenkov, the visual artist Katerina Foukara, and a contracting company. The monument is being constructed in one of the most central parts of the city, Dionysios Solomos Square on 25th March Street [near the municipal gardens/municipal buildings], and will be flanked by the bust of our National Poet.
The aim of the team was to create a monument that will tell the story of the epic of the struggle, but will also be accessible with different uses since visitors and especially children will be able to explore its various aspects.
The monument will also have an educational character since it will have QR codes that will refer to texts and works of Art about the Revolution. The total value of the project amounts to approximately €160,000.
