CRIME ROUND UP

 Pafos Live 7 March 2024

A Greek Cypriot couple spent nightmarish moments in Chloraka when two masked men, probably armed, entered their residence to steal.

According to the complaint, the owner of the residence, who is a military officer, was alone in the house after his wife had gone to a nearby residence where her elderly mother lives to take care of her. He heard a knock on the door and as soon as he opened it he was hit on the head by a burly man, as described, who had his face covered with a hood.

According to the complaint, he was holding a metal object in one hand. His wife heard shouting and headed to her residence but, according to what they told police, a second masked man who was waiting at the entrance, apparently acting as a target, beat her and immobilized her by grabbing her cell phone so as not to call the police. The two assailants, who were looking for money, according to the complaint, after not locating anything disappeared without stealing anything from the residence.

It is noted that the perpetrators were waiting for a third person driving a small silver vehicle with which they escaped.

The attempt to stop a rental vehicle in Limassol with three young Greek Cypriots, aged 23, 20 and 16 years old, as passengers, was episodic.

The chase started in an area of Limassol, when it was found that the vehicle was moving suspiciously and ended in Episkopi, where the vehicle was involved in a road accident with another passing car.

It should be noted that the three young persons allegedly threw bags out of the window during the chase, with the possibility that they were drugs.

The members of the Force signalled the driver of a car to stop, but the latter tried to flee by developing speed. A chase ensued, with the members of the Limassol OPE using their service weapons, shooting in the air. Finally, the rental vehicle collided with another passing car in an area of Episkopi.

The collision injured the two occupants of the second vehicle who were taken to the General Hospital.

A small quantity of drugs was found in the possession of the three youths, namely 10 grams of cannabis.

They were then arrested and taken to the Limassol Police Headquarters.

Reinforcements from other patrols of the Force have also rushed to the spot.
