A young Congolese girl reported being raped by a 26-year-old man, also African, whom she named.
According to her complaint to the police, while in an apartment in Paphos, the 26-year-old from Sierra Leone had sex with her, against her will.
Following her complaint, police issued an arrest warrant against him. The 26-year-old was spotted at dawn and arrested.

Detention orders were issued by the Pafos District Court against three minors aged 15, 17 and 16 respectively for a case of vehicle theft in Paphos.
According to Paphos Assistant Police Director of Operations, Michalis Nicolaou, on 14.3.24 a car worth €2,000 was stolen from Paphos.
The vehicle was reportedly found on 19.3.24 abandoned in a remote area in Stavrokonou in the Paphos district. Further examinations revealed testimony against three persons aged 15, 16 and 17.
According to Mr. Nicolaou, on 22.3.24 the 15-year-old and the 17-year-old were arrested with court arrest warrants, taken to the Pafos District Court and their five-day detention was secured.
On Sunday, the 16-year-old was also arrested and taken to the Pafos District Court on Monday, which ordered his two-day detention.
Nicolaou said that upon completion of the investigations, the case file will be put before the Legal Service for instructions on how to handle it due to the involvement of minors.

The Police followed up yesterday the actions to identify third-country nationals residing illegally in Cyprus, with a coordinated nationwide police control operation.
During today's control operation, the members of the Police proceeded to the arrest of 22 persons of various nationalities, who, as has been established, remain illegally on the territory of the Republic of Cyprus. They were detained, with the Police already proceeding with the procedures for their immediate repatriation, in cooperation with other competent authorities.
Today's operation began at 6.00 in the morning and ended around 12.00 noon. It was attended by members of the Aliens and Immigration Service – YAM, as well as members of the Green Line Surveillance and Migration Flow Response Subdivision.
Since the beginning of the year, a total of 2675 persons residing illegally in Cyprus have been repatriated through the repatriation procedures of persons residing illegally in Cyprus. The efforts of the Police to locate and remove persons residing illegally in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus continue daily.

The Pafos Police in the district filed 203 complaints in the last four days, with most of them relating to speeding.
According to the Police, of the 203 traffic complaints, 15 were for driving under the influence of alcohol, 2 drivers were reported for driving under the influence of drugs and 76 drivers for exceeding the speed limit.
The remaining complaints concerned minor traffic offences. Coordinated police operations will continue at a later stage.

A double-cab vehicle belonging to a 53-year-old man, which was parked outside a petrol station in Parekklisia, was reduced to ashes at dawn today.
According to police, the owner of the vehicle parked the double cab of his vehicle at a point at the gas station since last Sunday due to a mechanical failure.
At dawn it was engulfed in flames, as a result of which it burned to the ground.
Members of the Fire Brigade rushed to the scene to extinguish the fire and contain it so that it does not spread. From on-site examinations by both the Fire Brigade and the Police, it was found that the fire was maliciously caused by the use of flammable material.
In testimony, the 53-year-old auto mechanic claimed he had no differences with anyone and did not suspect anyone.
Investigations into the case are ongoing and CCTV are expected to examine the area.

A road accident involved a 12-year-old, who decided to drive his father's vehicle in Limassol.
According to information, at around 10:30 in the morning, the 12-year-old, after escaping the attention of his parents, grabbed his father's car and then, after losing control, collided with a CYTA pole and as a result was cut off.
Fortunately, no injuries resulted from the collision. Authorities are looking into the circumstances under which the vehicle fell into the hands of the 12-year-old.

Police on Tuesday arrested two men, aged 21 and 27, as part of an ongoing investigation into a case of conspiracy and preparation of forged documents abroad. The case concerns forged driver’s licenses and a fake residence permit for the RoC.
Three other persons, aged 36, 41, and 44, were arrested for the case last Thursday, and remain in custody pursuant to court orders.
According to police, on Thursday, shortly before 3.30pm, the 41-year-old suspect went to a courier company office in Paphos to receive a package which had been sent from abroad. A little later, the 44-year-old and 36-year-old went to the same shop, where they also received a package from the same sender.
Police intercepted the suspects upon departing the shop and stopped them for a check. During the inspection, CID officers found two driver’s licenses from European countries with details of other persons in the 41-year-old’s packet, while a residence permit, also with details of third person, were found in the package received by the 44 and 36-year-olds.
The three were arrested and brought before the Paphos District Court, on Friday which issued orders for their six-day detention.
During the investigation evidence emerged against the 21 and 27-year-olds, against whom judicial arrest warrants were issued. Police located and arrested the two men on Monday afternoon and they were taken into custody.
