Police arrested a 49-year-old man on Friday in Paphos to facilitate investigations into an ongoing theft case, while a second person is being sought.

According to Paphos Assistant Police Director of Operations, Michalis Nicolaou, yesterday Friday at 17:30 a 49-year-old man was arrested with a court warrant for stealing property through a container used as a warehouse at the Green Point in Mouttalos area, following a complaint and relevant investigations by the Pafos Police.

The offence, Mr Nicolaou said, appeared to have been committed on the evening between March 21 and 22

The 49-year-old was taken into custody, while police added that they are seeking a second person in the case.

In the context of investigating a case in relation to the offences of conspiracy to commit a felony, robbery, common assault, etc., committed on 16/03/2024 in Ayia Napa, the Police proceeded yesterday on the basis of court warrants to the arrest of three persons.

They are men aged 25, 23 and 22 who were detained to facilitate interrogations.

The case concerned the complaint of three persons, according to which on 16/03/2024, while in a hotel room in Ayia Napa, they were attacked by a group consisting of about 12 persons, who after beating them with bats, stole a sum of money.

The arrest of two persons, suspects in connection with an investigated case of drug trafficking, proceeded yesterday in the district of Larnaka by the Police and specifically the Anti-Narcotics Service – YKAN.

The two suspects, aged 44 and 17, were arrested for flagrant offences after a quantity of cannabis, weighing approximately six (6) kilos, was found in the car in which they were travelling in an area of Larnaka.

Specifically, shortly before 7.00 pm on Friday, the members of the YKAN stopped for inspection the car in which the two suspects were moving, driven by the 44-year-old. The 44-year-old driver tried to escape control, as a result of which he collided with his vehicle, with a police patrol vehicle and stopped at the scene.

A search of the vehicle followed, where five nylon packages containing cannabis, with a total gross weight of approximately six kilograms, were found in the rear seats, as well as on the floor behind the driver's seat.

The 44-year-old and 17-year-old were arrested for flagrant offences, while a search of the 44-year-old found nylon packaging with two grams of cannabis in the possession. Under questioning, the 44-year-old admitted to committing the offences under investigation.
