Three cars that were outside a machine shop in the industrial area of Geroskipou were destroyed by a fire that was probably set maliciously.
The fire, according to the fire department, broke out about 20 minutes before 2 a.m. in three vehicles parked outside the machine shop in close proximity to each other.
The two vehicles belong to the same person while the third vehicle belongs to a foreigner who is currently abroad. After the fire was extinguished by the fire brigade, the scene was cordoned off by police and examinations will take place today.

In the context of collecting and evaluating data regarding three cases of car theft committed in recent days in Nicosia, the Police proceeded to the arrest of six persons.
Specifically, during the investigation of these cases, which took place in recent days in Nicosia, the Police proceeded yesterday to arrest three persons aged seventeen and a half, 19 and 31. The three arrested were brought on the same day before the Nicosia District Court, which issued an eight-day detention order.

The ICF Nicosia is investigating a case against two persons, aged 28 and 20, who were arrested on court warrants at dawn today to facilitate investigations into an ongoing case of conspiracy to commit a felony, facilitation of illegal entry, transit and stay in violation of the Aliens and Immigration Law and offences of the Processing of Personal Data Law.
The two suspects, who reside at the Pournara Migrant Reception Centre (KEPY), were arrested following an assessment of relevant information, according to which persons post videos on the internet, announcing the arrival of migrants in Cyprus, in order to inform smugglers and take debt collection actions.
As it was found, a relevant video about the arrival of new immigrants at the Pournara KEPY had been posted yesterday afternoon on a relevant media on the internet.
Following further examinations, the Police arrested these persons, who were taken today to the Nicosia District Court, which issued a detention order for eight days.

In the context of investigating a case concerning the offences of illegal stay, facilitation of illegal entry, transit and stay, as well as of a prohibited immigrant, the Police arrested three persons last night.
The men aged 30, 28 and 24 were brought before the Nicosia District Court today, which issued an eight-day detention order. Two of the above persons were spotted last night near the green line in Nicosia, placing travel suitcases in a car, with the third person, aged 30, as the responsible driver.
At the call of the members of the Police for control, they entered the car and tried to escape, only to be stopped nearby, after immobilizing their vehicle, due to a road collision (The driver lost control and collided with an adjacent wall).
In a subsequent check, it was found that the 28-year-old and the 24-year-old were illegally on the territory of the Republic of Cyprus, resulting in their arrest, while the 30-year-old driver of the vehicle was also arrested for the offence of aiding illegal entry, transit and stay.

In the context of investigating a case concerning the offences of residential burglary and theft, committed on 15/10/2023, the Police proceeded yesterday on the basis of court warrants to arrest two persons.
They are a 37-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman, who were detained to facilitate interrogations.
The case concerned the burglary of a residence in Paphos, from which various items, including gold and jewellery, were stolen.
Part of the gold and jewellery items were identified by their owner (15/03/2024), after the publication of photographs by the Police, for property that was located and may have been the product of cases of burglaries and thefts.
The said jewellery and items were found at the home of the two arrested persons (11/03/2024), who were initially arrested for the offence of illegal possession of property. The ICF Pafos continues the examinations.

Pafos Police arrested a 44-year-old man on Monday night to facilitate investigations into an ongoing case of racism, assault with actual bodily harm, carrying weapons to incite terror, insults and threats.
According to the Pafos Assistant Police Director of Operations, Michalis Nicolaou, yesterday information was given to the Police that approximately 30-35 minors of Arab origin, residing in a Juvenile Shelter in Paphos, departed on foot for Kennedy Square to protest on the anniversary of the beginning of the civil war in Syria 13 years ago.
Members of the Pafos Police Authority, as Mr. Nicolaou said, went to Kennedy Square and located these persons who were peacefully protesting. Over time, patrons of adjacent premises began to complain about their presence there and confrontations began.
With the intervention of the police, nothing very serious happened and the protesters departed, Mr. Nicolaou. He said that subsequently, the 44-year-old, who had previously complained about the presence of foreigners there, allegedly attacked and insulted a 47-year-old permanent resident of Paphos with racist phrases and also hit him with a fist in the face, causing him actual bodily harm. The 44-year-old was immediately arrested by the police present and then detained, he added.
Moreover, in a second case, two minors residing in the Juvenile Shelter were arrested for the offenses of rioting and causing damage.
According to Mr. Nicolaou, after the protesters returned to the Shelter for Minors, 10-15 of them allegedly became agitated and holding sticks and stones caused damage to the building facilities of the Facility. The incident at the Juvenile Shelter ended with the intervention of the Police.
Regarding the second episode of the riot, testimony was obtained against two persons aged 15 and 16 who were arrested on court warrants and are in custody, Nicolaou said.
The examinations for the above cases continue by the Pafos Police.
