20,000 SELF CATERING UNLICENSED BEDS IN PAFOS DISTRICT

20,000 SELF-CATERING UNLICENSED BEDS IN PAFOS DISTRICT. BEDS EVEN RENTED IN A STATIONARY BUS The Tourism Development and Promotion Company of the Paphos Region has recently completed relevant record which concluded that in the entire district of Pafos there are approximately 20,000 beds in 6000 self-catering accommodation.

The 20,000 beds are distributed almost 50% in apartments and 50% in houses or villas. The Municipality of Paphos has the most beds, approximately 4000 beds, the Municipality of Peyia approximately 3600 beds, Kouklia about 1300 beds, the Municipality of Polis 800 beds, Neo Chorio 750, Chloraka 700, Kissonerga 400, Argaka 400 and Geroskipou only about 150 beds. The remaining beds are scattered in various communities.

From available information, approximately 15,000 beds have already been officially registered on the platform of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism while another 5,000 have not been registered but are available through the various platforms and other promotion channels.

The results confirm the original calculations that predicted total capacity of more than 50000 beds in the whole province against about 29500 beds which are officially licensed by the Deputy Ministry of Tourism. ETAP Paphos considers the issue of the reputation of the destination, the disposal of 20,000 unlicensed beds, to be serious as approximately 40% of all beds have not yet passed any inspection based on the provisions governing self-service and calls on the state to hurry the registration and control procedures of said accommodations.

It is noteworthy that on a certain platform they are available for short term rental and beds are available in a stationary bus.
