The project of renovation of existing premises and creation of new ones at Pafos General Hospital, under the contract signed for the design, construction and 12-year maintenance of the hospital, is expected to be delivered in the 2nd quarter of 2024, according to an announcement by the State Health Services Organisation (SHSO).
As mentioned, the total price of the project, which started in August 2023 and which is part of the Recovery and Resilience Plan, amounts to €5,792,633 of which €1,537,000.00 is funded.
The announcement notes that Pafos General Hospital is the largest and most equipped hospital in the district, covering the needs of citizens at the level of primary and secondary medical care, and that upon completion of the aforementioned project it will be able to provide upgraded health services and improved patient experience.
More specifically, the Obstetrics – Gynaecology Department of Pafos General Hospital will be upgraded under the name 'Mother and Child' and will have, among others, the following areas: pain room, delivery room, patient bathroom, infant area, hospital wards, pregnancy clinic and other support areas
In addition, the Paediatric Department of the Hospital will be upgraded with works in patient wards, a newborn ward, a treatment room and other support areas.
All areas will be appropriately designed to accept patients with disabilities.
The new Dialysis Unit, which was inaugurated last week, is the first of the works of Pafos General Hospital to be completed.
The construction of the new unit was based on European standards and it has the capacity to develop up to 27 dialysis stations. The unit has specialized medical and paramedical staff, is well equipped and suitable to provide comprehensive medical care to patients with kidney diseases. The project with a total value of €4,737,000 is included in the Recovery and Resilience Plan, receiving a grant of €4,016,340.
