In the context of the exhibition of the Bus of Resistance as a museum exhibit, the contract for the tender for the construction of the exhibition stand of the Bus of Resistance next to the roundabout of Tassos Papadopoulos Avenue and Aristotelis Savva Avenue was signed today at the Pafos Municipal Hall. The project was undertaken and funded entirely by the Municipality of Pafos.
With this project, the Municipality of Pafos aims to promote and highlight the historical memory of our people, as the Bus of Resistance is a symbol of the struggle of the Cypriot people for Democracy and legality.
The amount of the contract amounts to €130,000. The duration of execution of the scope of the contract is three months from the date of commencement of works.
In July 1974, the resistance bus transported resistance fighters from Pafos and was ambushed by coup plotters in the Limassol area. Bearing intact the holes from the shots it received, it was given to the Municipality of Pafos, after its restoration by the National Guard.
