A 20-year-old man was detained for six days on suspicion of raping a 21-year-old Ukrainian woman permanently residing in Limassol. Another person is wanted in the case.
The suspect was arrested yesterday and today he was brought before the Limassol District Court for a request for his detention. The proceedings took place behind closed doors, with the Court approving the request of the ICF Limassol and the detention of the suspect for 6 days.
As philenews learns, the defense lawyer of the suspect, Paris Loizou, during the detention process asked the investigator of the case to immediately take specific actions, which, as he claimed, will show the real facts.
According to the same information, the complainant in the complaint she filed alleges that she had intercourse against her will with the suspect and with another person, in the apartment of the former. The alleged rape, according to the complainant, took place last Friday night and she went to the police on Saturday afternoon where she reported the case.
The young woman appears to have been introduced to his suspicious acquaintance, who allegedly had a previous relationship with her. Subsequently, the suspect and the complainant met around 4 to 5 times.
On Friday (23/2) they went out for drinks with another person and then went to the suspect's apartment. They then appear to have consumed alcohol, with the complainant claiming she did not remember what followed, but saying that at some point she realised she was naked and raped by the two people.
The same reports say that before the alleged rape, the young woman said she had posted a video on social media of the suspect holding a pistol and shooting in the air, making a comment.
She then claimed that after being raped, she was threatened by the suspect with that pistol to delete the video in question, which she denied.
Following the complaint to the police, searches were carried out in the suspect's apartment, where various items were found, which were received for examination.
It should be noted that the complainant was also examined by a forensic pathologist.
The 20-year-old was arrested and reportedly admitted under questioning that he was with the young woman, but denies the accusations made by the complainant, saying that he did not have intercourse with her. At the same time, he claims that the young woman stole the amount of €1,500.
