The Permanent Assize Court of Limassol imposed today a prison sentence on the 34-year-old defendant in connection with the case of 8 kilos of cocaine found and seized on October 13, 2023, at Mouttayaka's house. A 35-year-old man who owned the drugs is also charged in the same case.

The Limassol Permanent Assize Court found the 34-year-old guilty after his own admission to serious charges of possession and possession with intent to supply to other persons and imposed a 12-year prison sentence. It should be noted that after this development, the now 34-year-old convicted will be called to testify against the first defendant and his best man. As philenews learns, it has already been included in the witness protection program.

The 34-year-old defendant and owner of the house admitted the role of storekeeper, saying that he gave the space of his house to his friend to conceal a quantity of cocaine, receiving a reward of €1,000 a month.

According to the facts of the case, information was received in the hands of the YKAN that the two men, aged 35 and 34, were engaged in the trafficking of large quantities of drugs. Following a coordinated operation by the Limassol YKAN on October 13, 2023, the two defendants were caught red-handed in an open area, adjacent to the 34-year-old's residence in Mouttayaka, engaged in the separation and packaging of one kilogram of cocaine.

Specifically, the two defendants during the YKAN raid were found distributing cocaine in various doses in bags so that it would be ready for sale. The members of the YKAN proceeded to arrest the 35-year-old while the 34-year-old defendant tried to escape, throwing in the yard of a neighbouring residence, a bag of cocaine weighing 100 grams. The 34-year-old was eventually stopped by members of the police and put in handcuffs. In a search, buried quantities of cocaine weighing about 8kg as well as cannabis of one kilogram were found.

Precision scales, a sum of money, a mobile phone, as well as eleven flares and two smoke canisters were also found and confiscated as evidence. The value of the seized quantity of 8 kilos of cocaine, according to YKAN investigators, is estimated at about one million euros.
