90 TRAFFIC CAMERAS IN OPERATION BY END OF MARCH - MAPS INCLUDED SHOWING LOCATIONS

Photo-tagging cameras or otherwise traffic traffic control cameras aim to control and prevent those violations that are proven to be the main causes of fatal and serious road collisions.

Currently, photo-labelling cameras operate at 18 fixed points in the districts of Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaka and Paphos, while at the same time 20 mobile cameras operate daily throughout the road network of Cyprus. In the near future, starting tomorrow, February 5, fixed photo-tagging cameras are expected to gradually operate at another 12 locations, in Nicosia, Limassol and Larnaca. In this way, it is expected that by the end of March 2024, a total of 90 fixed cameras will be operational at 30 points of the road network.

As of tomorrow, Monday 5 February, eight more cameras will be put into operation, at four locations in Limassol and Larnaca. Following this development, the number of points where fixed photo-labelling cameras operate per district is as follows:

  • Nicosia: 5 points, 16 cameras
  • Limassol: 5 points, 14 cameras
  • Larnaca: 7 points, 20 cameras
  • Paphos: 5 points, 18 cameras

Specifically, in the Nicosia district, photo-labelling cameras operate at the following points:

  1. Intersection of Griva Digeni and Dimosthenis Severis avenues
  2. Intersection of Griva Digeni and Prodromou avenues
  3. Intersection of Limassol and Armenia avenues
  4. Intersection of Archbishop Makarios III – Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue – Digeni Akrita
  5. Intersection of Strovolos Avenue with Machaira Street

In Limassol, photo-labelling cameras operate at:

  1. Intersection of Archbishop Makarios and Nikos & Despina Pattichi avenues
  2. Intersection of Archbishop Makarios and Agia Zoni avenues

3. Intersection of 28th October and Iakovou Tompazis avenues (in operation from 5/2/2024)

4. Point of Amathountos Avenue (opposite Arsinoe Hotel) (in operation from 5/2/2024)

5. Intersection of Amathountos Avenue with Ariadnis Street (in operation from 5/2/2024)

In Larnaca, the following points are checked by photo-labelling cameras:

  1. Intersection of Artemis and Faneromeni avenues
  2. Intersection of Makarios – Archbishop Kyprianou – Glafkou Alithersi avenues
  3. Intersection of Kyprianou Spyrou Avenue with Martin Luther King and Pavlou Valtaserides Streets
  4. Intersection of Kyprianou Spyrou Avenue with Alexandrou Panagouli Street

5. Point of Larnaka – Dhekelia road, between the 3rd and 6th kilometer (Jumbo store)

6. Point of Larnaka – Dhekelia road, between the 6th and 9th kilometers (Bowling)

7. Point of the road Kition – Mazotos (in operation from 5/2/2024)

Finally, in the district of Pafos, five intersections are checked, as follows:

  1. Intersection of Athinon and Christoforos Sozos avenues
  2. Intersection of Agapinoros and Agioi Anargyroi avenues
  3. Intersection of Chlorakas and Griva Digeni avenues
  4. Intersection of Ellados and Tassos Papadopoulos avenues
  5. Intersection of Europa and Yiannou Kranidioti avenues

According to the plans, by the end of March 2024, another 18 cameras are expected to be operational, at six locations in Limassol (coming into operation at the end of February) and another six cameras at two locations in Nicosia.
