SATURN 2 DRILLING - SUCCESSFUL

The new drilling of the Italian ENI at the "Saturn 2" target in Block 6 of the Cypriot exclusive economic zone was successful, as CNA is informed that the flame above the target has already been lit. The photo published by philenews is from the process of lighting the flame, early Friday 19/1/24.

As CNA is informed, the fact that there is a flame lighting indicates the existence of a reservoir in the target. It is recalled that the drilling at the Saturn 2 target was carried out by the drillship Transocean Barents.

Saturn 2 is the fourth discovery in block 6, after Zeus with estimated reserves of $2 trillion to $3 trillion. cubic feet, Saturn 1 with an estimated amount of 2.5 tcf and Calypso, which the company had described as a "promising discovery" with characteristics of the Egyptian Zohr deposit.

Block 6 is located approximately 160 km southwest of the Cypriot authorities. ENI with a 50% stake is the operator of the block with France's Total Energies participating in the joint venture with a 50% stake.
