Twenty-five cases of illegal employment of third-country nationals were detected and investigated by the Police in the first twelve days of the new year. During the same period, more than 270 foreigners staying illegally in Cyprus were repatriated.
As part of their official activities, in all districts, members of the Aliens and Immigration Service, from January 1 to January 12, 2024, identified a total of 25 cases of illegal employment. For these cases, 55 persons were arrested, of which 25 as employers and the remaining 30 as employees.
At the same time, the procedures for the repatriation of third-country nationals residing illegally in Cyprus continue. In the first twelve days of 2024, a total of 277 third-country nationals returned to their countries of origin.
It is recalled that in the context of these operations, last year, a total of 9699 third-country nationals were repatriated. This represents 88% of the total number of migrant arrivals in 2023.
