NON-PERFORMING LOANS AT €2billion IN OCTOBER

Non-performing loans in the banking system remained unchanged at around €2 billion in October, showing a decrease of only €2 million, compared to the previous month, and €300 million since the beginning of the year, in an environment of high interest rates.

More specifically, according to Central Bank data, total NPLs in October amounted to €2,015 million. from €2,017 million last month. As a percentage of total loans, NPLs at end-October remained unchanged at 8.3%, compared with 9.5% at the beginning of the year. Total loans amounted to €24.17 billion from €24.36 billion in the previous month

The majority of bad loans with €1.11 billion. It belongs to households, while business "bad loans" amounted to €0.85 billion. The NPL coverage ratio stood at 50.8%.

Loans in arrears of more than 90 days in October fell to €1.57 billion. from €1.58 billion last month and accounted for 6.5% of total loans.

According to the CBC, restructured loans decreased to €1.82 billion. in October from €1.86 billion in the previous month, while restructured loans that continue to be classified as NPLs stood at €0.91 billion. from €0.92 billion last month.
