The technological upgrading and other projects for the promotion of the Archaeological Park of Kato Pafos, contributed to making it the already pioneer in terms of visitors throughout the Pancyprian archaeological site, even more popular with foreign visitors to Pafos.
During the restoration of normality in the operation of the tourism industry, after two years of the harsh measures of the pandemic, the archaeological site of major importance worldwide, is flooded by foreign visitors who make the huge site by far the most visited archaeological site in Cyprus.
Especially this summer, according to competent bodies, but also the entrepreneurs of the tourism industry in the port of Kato Pafos, adjacent to the entrance of the archaeological site, armies of tourists queued every day to enter and tour the unique antiquities enclosed there. Official data show that in 2023 the archaeological site of Kato Pafos maintained, far from the second, the lead in visitors to archaeological sites throughout Cyprus.
At the same time, the Department of Antiquities has in progress the preparation of a management plan for the Archaeological Site of Nea Pafos and the Tombs of the Kings, where, among other things, it proceeds with the replacement of the entire fencing at the Archaeological Sites of Nea Pafos and the Tombs of the Kings, has completed the maintenance and restoration works of the traditional House on the hill of Fabrica, while the maintenance works of the traditional House near the House of Dionysus in Nea Pafos are being completed.
At the same time, conservation works were carried out at the Visitors' Centre in Nea Paphos and renovation of the shop, while conservation works continue on the mosaics in the House of the Four Seasons, the Baths of Triton, the Roman House East of the House of Dionysus and the Mosaic of Aphrodite, according to our information. The installation of a security system at the Archaeological Site of Nea Pafos is also under way, while the planning for the installation of security systems at the Archaeological Site of the Tombs of the Kings will be completed, as well as the planning for the renovation of the sanitary facilities of the Archaeological Site of Nea Pafos.
