A 42-year-old man who was arrested yesterday afternoon by members of the Police in connection with an investigated case of car arson, committed last Sunday, in the Paphos district, was placed under three-day detention under a court order.
According to the data under investigation, and an announcement by the Office of the Communication Branch of the Police Headquarters, at around 9.45 pm on Sunday, January 14, 2024, a fire broke out in a car, which was parked in the yard of its owner's residence, in the Paphos district.
The fire, from which the vehicle was completely destroyed, was extinguished by members of the Fire Brigade, while examinations carried out at the scene revealed that it was a malicious act.
During the investigation of the case, testimony appears to have emerged against the 42-year-old, who was arrested on a court arrest warrant. The 42-year-old was brought before the Paphos District Court today, which issued a three-day detention order.

The Police arrested another person, aged 24, in connection with the case of assault and injury of a 26-year-old man, on January 06, in Limassol.
In the same case, police are still searching for a number of other suspects, photos of whom were also released on January 10.

The attack, according to the evidence under investigation, took place in the early morning of January 6, 2024, in Limassol, when a 26-year-old man was allegedly attacked by a group of 15-20 people. The 26-year-old was seriously injured in the face in the attack. Three other persons, aged 25, 22 and 18, are in custody in the same case.
The case is being investigated by the ICF of Limassol.

The 22-year-old man who was detained for throwing a firecracker at Salamis-APOEL was released without charge, according to police.
Following his arrest, the young man was brought before the Larnaca District Court on Thursday, which issued a two-day detention order to facilitate police investigations into an ongoing case of violence in stadiums, throwing a dangerous object and illegal possession and transport of explosives.
Examinations for the incident are carried out by the ICF of Larnaca.

The Police arrested five people yesterday and today, as part of an investigation into 19 cases involving the theft of EAC transformers and causing malicious damage, exceeding €100,000, which were committed between the dates 17/11/2023-12/01/ 2024 in the province of Nicosia.
They are a 30-year-old man, two 42-year-old men and a 65-year-old man, who were arrested yesterday afternoon, during a coordinated operation carried out by members of the TAE Nicosia, as well as a 37-year-old man, who was arrested today.
The 30-year-old, the 37-year-old and the two 42-year-olds were arrested on warrants, to facilitate investigations, related to the investigated offenses of conspiracy to commit a felony, theft, malicious damage and money laundering, while the 65-year-old, for offenses involving theft , money laundering and the sale of scrap metal without a license.
The suspects are now being brought before the Nicosia District Court, for the issuance of a detention order. The TAE of Nicosia continues the exams.

A total of 297 complaints for various traffic offences, resulted from traffic controls, by members of the Special Motorcyclist Association (E.O.M.O.), the Road Accident Prevention Associations (O.P.O.D.) of Headquarters and Avdimos and members of the Provincial Traffic Branches, on the motorways and secondary road network throughout Cyprus. The Cyprus-wide traffic controls were carried out from the morning hours of Friday 19/01/2024 until the morning hours of today 20/01/2024, in the context of the prevention of road traffic collisions, the prevention and suppression of nuisance offenses by cars and motorcycles and the youth delinquency. The majority of complaints related to offences, which have been proven to be the main causes of serious and fatal traffic collisions. Of these, 90 complaints stand out for exceeding the speed limit and 37 complaints for driving under the influence of alcohol. Also worth mentioning are the complaints that were made and concern vehicles that were driven without traffic permits, which amount to 28, as well as violations of traffic signals, which amount to 35. Besides, in a campaign by the "Z" team of the Limassol Traffic Police, which took place between 6 am and 7 am, yesterday in the area of Limassol, 12 cars and one large displacement motorcycle were confiscated. The drivers of the vehicles in question were driving without a driver's license and insurance and the cases have already been registered at the District Court of Limassol. Targeted traffic controls continue daily, 24 hours a day, throughout the entire Cyprus road network. The sole objective is to reinforce the correct road awareness of all road users and to prevent fatal and serious traffic collisions.
