60 out-of-courtcomplaints were made by members of the cycling policing department of the Pafos police department in December.
As part of their activity, the members of the Pafos District Cycling Police during the same month offered assistance to the public in 17 cases, carried out security measures during 4 events and provided assistance in 14 casesto other departments and services of the Pafos Police Authority.
They also carried out a total of 19 arrests and checks of suspicious vehicles and persons, advised owners of shops and other premises on security measures for their property, and gave advice to locals and tourists where appropriate.
The members of the cycling policing of the Pafos Police Department also proceeded in December to police the wider area of Geroskipou and Chlorakas, to police football matches, to control beaches in cooperation with local lifeguards and tofoot patrols in the commercial sector of the city during the Christmas season.

The Pafos District Court imposed a five-month prison sentence on a 43-year-old man who was found guilty of offences of domestic violence.
According to Paphos Assistant Police Director of Operations Michalis Nicolaou, the 43-year-old, a permanent resident of Cyprus, was convicted of offences involving domestic violence, causing psychological harm, psychological violence and harassment.
The offences were committed in August 2023, Nicolaou concluded.

Extrajudicial fines to two persons, amounting to €500 each, were issued by the Pafos Police for the use of imitative sound devices of wild birds.
According to the Assistant Police Director of Pafos Operations, Michalis Nicolaou, on 31.12.23 in two separate cases in the areas of Mandria and Letymbou, respectively, members of the Pafos Game Service spotted two men using devices that mimic the voices of wild birds.
The two persons were taken to the local stations and each was issued an extrajudicial fine of €500.
They also had their shotguns and machines that mimic the voices of wild birds confiscated, as well as a number of hunting cartridges.

The Pafos District Court imposed a 2-year prison sentence suspended for three years on a 28-year-old man in connection with aresidential burglary.
According to Paphos Assistant Police Director of Operations, Michalis Nicolaou, the 28-year-old was found guilty of burglary of a residence, possession of burglary tools and illegal possession of property, offences committed in April 2018.

Arsonists targeted a luxury car belonging to a 29-year-old man from Limassol early on Tuesday. The fire was extinguished by neighbors who noticed it.
According to police, the fire broke out at 1.30am – while the 29-year-old's car was parked outside his home in the Omonia area – as the perpetrator or perpetrators doused the car with flammable material and set it on fire.
The fire, which was extinguishedbefore the arrival of the fire brigade, caused extensivedamageto the car. Members of the Fire Brigade and Police cordoned off the scene for investigations and interrogations. Concrete with flammable material was found at the scene, which was received by investigators.

A detention order against a 44-year-old is expected to be issued today in connection with the fatal accident that occurred half an hour after midnight on New Year's Day.
The 44-year-old is still being treated at the hospital and the procedure will take place there and specifically in the surgical department of Limassol hospital.
It is reminded that before the authorities are the closed surveillance circuits of the area where the fatal took place, resulting in the death of the two children of the George family, the eldest daughter Evanthia, 27 years old and the young son, Nicholas, 17 years old. With them, their grandparents, Nikolas Zavros and grandmother Vathoulla, 72 and 74 years old respectively.

The 27-year-old driver heading south of Yiannou Kranidioti and reaching the junction of traffic lights, attempted a right turn to enter Agia Anastasia Street. A five-day detention order was issued by the Pafos District Court against a 30-year-old man wanted since September to facilitate investigations into an ongoing case of extortion of property by false representation and illegal possession of narcotic substances.
According to Paphos Assistant Police Director of Operations, Michalis Nicolaou, on September 1, 2023, a case of mobile phone theft and credit card theft was reported, which had been used in five different stores.
Testimony was secured in the case against a person, aged 30, who was in custody. On Friday, members of the Pafos ICF Burglary Unit located him and arrested him under the outstanding warrant against him.
A search of his home reportedly found property, a number of knives and a quantity of narcotics. The 30-year-old was arrested and is in five-day detention.
The offences he faces are those of obtaining property by false representations, fraudulent use of a non-cash means of payment, possession of burglary tools, stabbing, possession of a controlled drug class A and B. The examinations are continued by the ICF Pafos.
