Police are investigating a case of attempted murder, committed yesterday afternoon in Nicosia.
According to the evidence under examination, at around 5.15pm yesterday, a car in which a 49-year-old driver and two other persons were travelling was shot while it was in an area of Aglantzia.
The shooting did not result in any injuries, while preliminary examinations caused damage to the windscreen and passenger door window.
Filenews - Update - An attempted murder occurred in Aglantzia against a person without injuring him or his son and daughter, who were in a vehicle.
The efforts of the Police and the Aliens and Immigration Service to maximize the number of returns continue.

A 28-year-old man was released on parole on Monday in connection with an investigation into illegal possession of drugs, impersonation, speeding and driving under the influence of drugs.
According to Paphos Assistant Police Operations Director Michalis Nikolaou, the 28-year-old man who was arrested on January 14 when his vehicle was stopped by members of the "Z" group was presented on Monday at the Paphos District Court, which ordered that he be released with conditions which he fulfilled. The court also set November 21, 2024 as the date for the trial to begin.
According to the Assistant Police Director of Paphos Operations, Michalis Nikolaou, on January 14 at 12:35, members of the "Z" group stopped a car on the Talas-Embas road that was being driven at a speed limit of 79 instead of 50 kilometers, which was the permitted limit.
The driver was given a positive drug test. A quantity of white crystalline substance similar to methamphetamine, weighing 5.5 grams, was found in his possession.
Also, the information on his driver's license is said to be fake.
Further, when a search was carried out at his residence, a quantity of cannabis was found.
The 28 year old was allegedly driving without a driver's licence, without insurance, and was arrested.

An episodic chase unfolded in the early hours of Tuesday in Larnaca with members of the Police firing shots.
As reported by Spyros Chrysostomou, press representative of the Larnaca Police Department, "around 2 am today, a 35-year-old woman was found in an area of the Municipality of Livadi, in a vehicle without registration plates, who is wanted for various cases and has several warrants pending against her arrest".
He added that “as soon as the woman became aware of the officers, she drove her car into the vehicle of the members of the Force, resulting in the officers using their service weapons, shooting at the tires of her vehicle. The police did not manage to stop the car, and the woman fled the scene, driving at breakneck speed, without being identified until 9am this morning.

The Police in Paphos proceeded to arrest a woman in order to facilitate investigations regarding an investigated case of illegal employment, while her employer was accused in writing of illegal employment.
According to the Assistant Police Director of Paphos Operations Michalis Nikolaou on January 15, at 09:30, members of the Paphos Aliens and Immigration Service went to a souvenir shop located on Apostolou Pavlou Avenue following information that illegal aliens were working there.
As Mr. Nikolaou told KYPE, they spotted a woman working there, they approached her and she ran away in the presence of the police.
She then stopped. It was established that this is a 31-year-old woman, who is in Cyprus as a political asylum seeker and apparently did not have a permit to work in the business.
She was then arrested and taken into custody. Her employer was called to the offices of the Paphos Police, charged in writing and released to be summoned to court later.

A 46-year-old person is wanted by the Police, to facilitate inquiries regarding an investigated case of theft from a tenant.
According to the Assistant Police Director of Paphos Operations, Michalis Nikolaou, a 70-year-old man reported on January 23 the theft of items from a house in Paphos, which he rented to a 46-year-old, who lived in it with his family.
According to the complaint, at the beginning of January, after the departure of the 46-year-old and his family, the 70-year-old found that various items were missing from the residence with a total value of approximately €1,725.
An arrest warrant has been issued against the 46-year-old for theft and he is wanted. The tests to identify him continue by the Paphos police.

In 56 complaints, from 06:00 on Monday morning until 06:00 on Tuesday morning, members of the Traffic Police in Paphos, as part of a coordinated operation by the Police to prevent road traffic collisions.
As Paphos Police Director of Operations, Michalis Nikolaou, told KYPE, of the 56 complaints made, one related to driving under the influence of drugs, another 32 related to driving at excessive speed, while the remaining complaints related to other traffic violations.
The co-ordinated operations of the Police to prevent traffic collisions will continue, he concluded.
