YELLOW WEATHER WARNING - FRIDAY TILL 2AM SATURDAY

A yellow warning for rain, thunderstorms and hail has been issued by the Department of Meteorology.

According to the update, the warning goes into effect from 7 a.m. on Friday until 2 a.m. on Saturday.

Detailed weather report

Friday the weather will be mostly cloudy and gradually showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected, with most phenomena concentrated in the mountains, the western half of the island, as well as southern windward areas. Hail may also fall in a thunderstorm. The winds will blow mainly southeast to southwest and locally variable, weak to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort and the sea will be a little turbulent. The temperature will rise around 19 degrees in the interior, around 20 degrees on the coast and around 9 degrees in the higher mountains.

On Saturday, increased clouds with isolated rains are expected from time to time, while snow or sleet may fall on the highest peaks of Troodos.

On Sunday the weather will initially be mostly clear, but later locally increased clouds will appear. On Monday the weather will be partly cloudy and isolated showers may fall, mainly in the west.

The temperature is not expected to change significantly on Saturday to remain close to average climatic values, while on Sunday it will rise slightly, remaining at about the same levels on Monday.
