UK PASSPORT HOLDERS

UK PASSPORT HOLDERS

It is worth checking the expiry date on your UK passport.  The UK used to extend the period of the passport to cover any 'unexpired' portion.  Unfortunately, post-Brexit, that 'added' period is not recognised.

For example, if you renewed your passport on 1 November 2014 and you had 3 months left on that passport, the expiry date showing on your passport may be 31 January 2025.  However, as far as travel is now concerned that passport is only valid for 10 years from 1 November 2014, ie until 1 November 2024.

Please take a few minutes to check the exact date when your passport expires as you may need to renew it earlier than you thought.

For travel in the EU, your passport must now meet the following requirements:

  • On day of entry to the EU, issued less than 10 years ago.
  • On intended day of exit from EU, at least three months left before expiry date.
