“It is with great pleasure that we welcome the commencement of processes for the upgrade and modernization of Paphos Hospital,” stated Chrysanthos Savvides, the Paphos MP of the Democratic Party (DIKO), in his intervention today.
According to Mr. Savvides, within this framework, the Accident and Emergency Department, the Obstetrics-Gynaecology Department, and the Antenatal Clinic will be upgraded and expanded. A Paediatric Nursing Unit will be established, and the Day Care and Short Stay Unit of the A&E Department will be renovated.
“With the upgrade of our public hospitals, especially Paphos Hospital, we will be able to have hospitals that meet the needs of citizens,” he stressed.
Additionally, beyond these, it is imperative to create an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and cover Paphos Hospital with other critical specialties, such as neurosurgery, vascular surgery, interventional cardiology, and interventional radiology, as they are considered essential for its smooth operation, Mr. Savvides pointed out.
The creation of an ICU at Paphos Hospital is necessary due to the daily need arising from numerous cases, and with the expertise of intensive care, it will enhance the quality of health services provided and the reliability of Paphos Hospital, he concluded.
