OVER 500 TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS IN 36 HOURS

As part of the Police's efforts to prevent fatal and serious road collisions, members of the Police proceeded, in the last 36 hours (9-10 December 2023), to more than 500 complaints for various traffic offences, in all districts. Many of the offences reported concern traffic violations, which are proven to be the main causes of fatal and serious road collisions.

Specifically, out of a total of 509 complaints, 174 concern exceeding the speed limit, while another 84 concern the offence of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. At the same time, five drivers were reported for not being free hands while driving (use of a mobile phone), while the remaining 246 complaints related to other offences.

At the same time, during the same period, as part of the actions of the Police, for the prevention and confrontation of public, serious and organized crime, patrols and hundreds of checks of persons, vehicles and premises were carried out.

More than 900 vehicles and 1000 persons were checked, as well as a number of nightclubs in all provinces. These audits resulted in 17 complaints concerning various infringements of nightclub licences and indoor smoking.

The activities and controls of the Police continue daily with the aim of ensuring the safety and protection of the public, the fight against crime and the consolidation of a proper road culture.

In this context, between 1 – 8 December 2023, the members of the Limassol Police Authority, in the context of their patrol and other duties, carried out more than 800 searches of vehicles, persons and premises, in the city and district of Limassol, while they also proceeded to eight arrests of persons for serious cases. 16 inspections were also carried out in nightclubs, which resulted in ten complaints of violation of their operating conditions.

On the streets of the Limassol district, the members of the Limassol Traffic Police proceeded to more than 600 complaints for traffic offences, as well as to the seizure of 67 cars and motorcycles.
