Next Tuesday, December 12, the District Court of Paphos will decide whether the 35-year-old woman who was arrested the day before Wednesday for three cases of theft and burglary committed in 2020 and in September and October 2023, respectively, will remain in custody or not.

According to the Assistant Police Director of Paphos Operations, Michalis Nikolaou, today the charges related to the three burglaries and thefts under investigation were registered in court, but it has not been decided whether the suspect's arrest warrant will be renewed. According to Mr. Nikolaou, the Court decided that the suspect should remain in custody until next Tuesday, December 12, at 09:00 in the morning, where it will finally be decided whether her detention order will be renewed or whether she will be released to be summoned later . 

An announcement by the Office of the Communication Branch of the Police Headquarters, which preceded it, states that in the context of the police examinations, the investigators of the Paphos Police Department secured testimony against a 35-year-old resident of Paphos, against whom a judicial arrest warrant was issued.

The 35-year-old was spotted shortly before noon on December 6, at her home, in Paphos, and was arrested pursuant to a court warrant. Her arrest was followed by a search of her home, where several valuable items were located and confiscated, for which the 35-year-old did not provide sufficient explanations as to how they came into her possession.

As a result, the 35 year old woman was re-arrested for the self-inflicted crime of illegal possession of property and was taken into custody to facilitate investigations.

The 29-year-old suspect who was arrested on Wednesday to facilitate investigations related to an investigated case of causing damage to the glass entrance of the Paphos District Court after stone throwing last week will remain in custody until Tuesday, December 12.

According to the Assistant Police Director of Paphos Operations, Michalis Nikolaou, regarding the malicious damage to the Paphos Courthouse, an arrest warrant was obtained last Friday against a 29-year-old permanent resident of Paphos, resulting in the Police handcuffing him. The court today did not make a decision on whether to renew the arrest warrant for the suspect, a decision which according to the Police will be made next Tuesday.

It is, as Mr. Nikolaou mentioned, the same person who last week was accused of causing damage to three other government buildings, the Welfare Office, the KEP and the Provincial Labor Office in Paphos.  From the investigations of the Paphos Police, the 29 year old is allegedly involved in the new case of causing malicious damage.

The German fugitive is free with restrictive conditions

Yesterday morning, a 67-year-old fugitive from Germany appeared before the Paphos District Court against whom a European arrest warrant was pending and who was arrested by the Cypriot authorities. Against the 67-year-old, who was released, extradition proceedings have begun in Germany, according to the Assistant Police Director of Paphos Operations, Michalis Nikolaou. 

The Paphos Court before which he appeared yesterday adjourned the case until Monday, December 11 and ordered that the 67-year-old remain free with various restrictive conditions, according to Mr. Nikolaou. 

According to the Police, while the man in question was at Paphos airport, during the passport control, it was found that he had an arrest warrant pending against him for fraud and embezzlement, with the result that he was initially arrested and detained.

It was found that he was a 15-year-old minor. With his arrest, the case of car theft is being investigated against him, as well as a case of traffic violations, including the case of causing a traffic collision. The examinations are continued by the TAE Nicosia and the Nicosia Traffic Department. Both the 15-year-old, the 28-year-old and the 26-year-old were taken to Nicosia General Hospital for medical examinations. After receiving first aid, they were discharged.

A 39-year-old man, who was wanted in connection with pending cases of theft of a car and other property, illegal possession of property, and damage to property, was located and arrested by members of the Police yesterday. Against the 39-year-old suspect, other cases of burglaries, thefts, and theft of cars and motorcycles are being investigated, which according to the data under investigation, were allegedly committed between November and December, 2023, in the province of Limassol. The Police released on December 06, 2023, the photo and details of the 39-year-old suspect, with the aim of gathering information that could lead to his identification. This was followed by information received by the Police and which led to the identification of the 39-year-old yesterday, in a residence in Liopetri, in the province of Famagusta. After the identification of the 39-year-old, the continued publication of his photo and personal information is unnecessary. In the residence where the 39-year-old was found, a motorcycle was also found, which had been stolen on November 30, from a showroom of a vehicle sales company in Limassol. The 39-year-old was arrested on warrants issued for the purposes of police investigations, in connection with a number of cases under investigation, burglary and theft of property, theft of car and motorcycle number plates, and damage to property. Specifically, the case of burglary of the showroom building of a vehicle sales company, in Limassol, where two cars and two motorcycles were stolen, on November 30, and a case of house burglary, in Germasogeia, where another car and other property were stolen, are being investigated. on December 4. Two other burglary and theft cases are also being investigated against the 39-year-old suspect, of which one case concerns the burglary of a residence in Limassol, from where property was stolen, on 01/12/2023 and the second case concerns the burglary of a building in Kato Polemidia, where property was stolen, on 30/11 – 01/12/2023. Another three cases of theft, concerning the theft of property from a petrol station in Ypsonas, the theft of aluminium objects from a residence in Limassol, and the theft of car registration plates from a vehicle parked in the village of Erimis, are also being investigated against the 39-year-old. suspect. The thefts, according to the data under investigation, were allegedly committed between 30/11 and 01/12/2023.

The examinations are being continued by the TAE Limassol, in collaboration with the Police Stations of Episkopi and Polemidion.
