It seems that the members of the Burglary Unit of the TAE Paphos have found the end of the thread, for the investigation of at least three cases of residential burglaries and thefts, committed in the Paphos district, who proceeded to arrest a 35-year-old woman to facilitate the investigations.

The first burglary was committed in 2020, while the other two occurred in September and October 2023. As part of the police examinations, the investigators of the Paphos Police Department secured testimony against a 35-year-old resident of Paphos, against whom a judicial arrest warrant was issued.

The 35-year-old was spotted shortly before noon today, at her home, in Paphos, and was arrested pursuant to a court warrant for her arrest was followed by a search of her home, where several valuable items were located and confiscated, for which the 35-year-old did not provide sufficient explanations as to how they came into her possession.

As a result, the 35 year old woman was re-arrested for the self-inflicted crime of illegal possession of property and was taken into custody to facilitate investigations.

12 of the 13 defendants have not admitted any charges in connection with the incidents that took place on the evening of September 1, during a protest against immigration in the Epichosi area. One of them, who is a minor, pleaded guilty today to a charge of participating in a riot.

In today's proceedings, the 13 defendants were called upon to answer the 12 charges against them relating to the offences of participation in rioting, damage to buildings by riots, arson, assault on a law enforcement officer, common assault, public incitement to violence or hatred, malicious damage to property. The offence of stabbing is faced only by defendant 12.

The Prosecution, after the admission of accused 7 who is a minor, requested that the remaining 4 charges he faces be suspended. The request was granted by the Assize Court. The Court set the case for hearing on 28 February 2024.

It should be noted that the proceedings were attended by a section of citizens of left-wing organizations, who attend every hearing outside the Court, holding banners bearing the slogan "They are not innocent. Fascists in prison."

It is recalled that in the previous hearing, the Permanent Assize Court approved the request of the 7 defendants who submitted a request for representation with free legal aid. Initially, 9 defendants had filed a request, but today, two of them withdrew.

Reading the reports prepared by the Welfare Office, it appears that all 7 defendants are persons who have no financial resources. In fact, one of them is a person serving his military service, while another is a recipient of a Guaranteed Minimum Income.
