The Paphos Police arrested three workers on Thursday in relation to an investigated case of illegal employment in a restaurant in Paphos to facilitate investigations, while their employers were also arrested for illegal employment.

According to the Assistant Police Director of Paphos Operations, Michalis Nikolaou, on November 30, in the morning hours, members of the Paphos Aliens and Immigration Service, in cooperation with the Labor Office, carried out a check on a specific restaurant in the area of ​​Kato Paphos, which is allegedly managed by two persons, a man and woman aged 54 and 57 respectively.

At the restaurant, Mr. Nikolaou told KYPE, three people were found working, including a 22-year-old woman and two 26- and 29-year-old men, who were found to be working there illegally.

Furthermore, the 26-year-old was found to be residing illegally on the territory of the Republic, while the other two were political asylum seekers.

The two employers of the restaurant were subsequently charged in writing and the three employees remain in custody.

A coordinated operation was carried out on Thursday night by members of the Paphos ADE, focusing on combating the phenomenon of noise pollution. During the operation, a complaint was made of a building that was broadcasting music without a license from the competent authority.

According to the Police, the operation was carried out after receiving frequent complaints about causing nuisance by loud music being broadcast.

In the meantime, as part of an operation to prevent road collisions on Friday night, the Paphos Police made 16 traffic complaints.

The Police examinations for the prevention of road collisions will continue at a later stage.

A serious incident of beating of two underage brothers, aged 13 and 15, was reported to Larnaka Police on Tuesday night.

According to the complaint, the two brothers were leaving a school and were walking on a street in the Vergina area of Larnaca when they were approached by an unknown car carrying a group of masked men.

The strangers started asking the minors which football team they supported and when the children refused to answer they started cursing them. The masked men, according to the complaint, then got out of the car and beat the minors, who were taken to Larnaka Hospital.

One child had head injuries and had to be sutured. According to the Police, the incident is being investigated by the Larnaca Minor Offences Department, which is looking for evidence of the identity of the masked men, who did not wear the insignia of any group.

Cyprus Police

The District Court of Nicosia imposed on 27/11/2023 a monetary fine as well as exclusion from the stadiums, on three persons aged 25, 29 and 31, after finding them guilty of the charges of possessing explosive materials and prohibiting the transport of an offensive weapon in the immediate vicinity sports field. Specifically, the 25-year-old and the 29-year-old were fined €700 each, while the 31-year-old was fined €200. For these three persons, their exclusion from sports venues was also extended, until April 10, 2024. The above were arrested as part of the checks carried out before the start of the football match between the APOEL - APOLLO teams, held at the GSP Stadium on April 10, 2023.
