COURT MEASURES FOR ARBITRARINESS IN LIVESTOCK/AGRICULTURAL PREMISES IN AKAMAS

 Filenews 14 December 2023

The General Prosecutor's Office is forwarding misdemeanor reports on 20 cases of owners of livestock/agricultural premises (stiadia) in the Akamas area, who proceeded to illegal interventions and alterations to their premises, in violation of their license.

According to the Ministry of Interior, the owners had been sent a letter with a condition within two months to remove the illegalities and restore legality, without complying on their part. Therefore, the Pafos District Administration and the Department of Town Planning and Housing are preparing misdemeanor reports and within the next two weeks, they will be submitted to the General Prosecutor's Office for further handling and judicial action.

It is recalled that the arbitrariness in these schools had been detected since last September, following inspections carried out on the instructions of the Minister of Interior, Mr. Constantinos Ioannou, by a team consisting of officers of the Pafos District Administration, the Department of Town Planning and Housing (Pafos Offices) and the Game and Fauna Service. The checks were carried out by physical autopsy of the team and with the use of technological means.

The inspections revealed illegal interventions in 25 premises, which are located in blocks on the outskirts of the Akamas National Forest Park in areas adjacent to Natura Network areas. In five of these cases, judicial measures had already been taken.
