According to the Fire Service, the fires in two of the three boats in the Larnaka marina, which were engulfed in flames at noon on Thursday, are fully controlled, raising the alarm of the Police.

This was stated through a post on "X" by the spokesman of the Fire Service, Andreas Kettis, noting that arrangements will be made by the Larnaka marina for their recovery ashore, in order to make the necessary checks.

"The scene will be guarded by the police until an investigation is carried out by all state agencies. Firefighting forces remain on alert," Kettis said. Investigations into the cause of the fire will be carried out tomorrow if weather conditions allow, as well as tests to determine whether there is any pollution of the sea. The fire started on one boat and spread rapidly to the other two.
Two of the boats were moved offshore, away from Larnaka marina while the marina area was evacuated for safety reasons. Ambulances and fire brigade forces rushed to the scene, while personnel were recalled. Two vessels were completely destroyed, while the third suffered extensive damage with the total cost of damage, according to philenews, exceeding €1 million.
