The "right to be forgotten" is also acquired by law by people who have been ill at some point in their lives with cancer but managed to overcome it and wish to take out insurance policies and secure loans from banking institutions.
For children and young adults, up to 21 years of age, the right to be forgotten begins to apply five years after their recovery and for adults after ten years.
The law was voted unanimously by Parliament a short while ago following a proposal for a law tabled by AKEL.
