'PREMIERE' FOR THE ONE-STOP-SHIPPING CENTRE AT DEPUTY MINISTRY OF SHIPPING

 Filenews 20 November 2023

The Cyprus Shipping Chamber welcomes the commencement of operations of the One-Stop-Shipping-Centre at the Deputy Ministry of Shipping, as of 20 November.

This important development reflects an important step towards the Government's commitment to further upgrade Cyprus' position as a strong maritime centre.

The establishment of the One-Stop Shipping Service Center was a long-standing request of the Chamber of Shipping and is expected to evolve substantially into a fully developed "Fast-Track" service with direct and fast access/priority to all competent state authorities/Ministries.

"The intention is for the service centre to be staffed by officers of the Deputy Ministry of Shipping and other competent state services (on secondment), who have or should be trained to acquire knowledge of the specific requirements of the shipping industry," KNE said, noting that it should act promptly and effectively, independently of other Government Departments. to quickly carry out the services it will undertake.

At the same time, the total digitalization and automation of the services of the Deputy Ministry of Shipping to shipping companies is necessary, by providing a more flexible, direct, efficient and unified customer-centric service on a 24-hour basis, which will make Cyprus shipping "substantially more competitive", which is also a permanent demand of the shipping industry.

The digitization and automation of all services provided by the Deputy Ministry will create a purely digital environment, shaping the support framework for one-stop shops, KNE notes in its announcement.

"This significant upgrade is a step in the right direction, which the Chamber of Shipping fully supports and will continue to work to enhance the range of services offered by the service center," he notes.
