MAJOR ROAD WORKS

 


On the Nicosia-Limassol highway, at the exit to Sia, and at the entrance from Sia, up to the Mosfilotis bridge, on Saturday 25/11/2023, between the hours of 07:00 - 12:00, asphalt paving works will be carried out. During the works, the exit and entrance to and from Sia from the Limassol-Nicosia highway will be closed. Traffic from Limassol to Sia will be routed through the Kornos Junction from the old Nicosia – Limassol road. Accordingly, traffic from Sia to Nicosia will be diverted through the Mosfilotis bridge to the old Nicosia - Limassol road. In the period between 2/10/2023 – 30/11/2023, every day except weekends, between the hours of 08:30 – 14:30, on the highways Larnaca – Kofinou and Larnaca – Rizoelia Airport, in both directions, pruning works will be carried out and watering trees on the side of the road, by the Forestry Department. During the works, the motorway shoulder will be partially closed, 300 meters long at a time, without lane closures.

Landscaping works will be carried out on the vertical road that connects the Limassol Paphos highway to the New Port of Limassol, in the period 30/10/2023 – 26/11/2023, including weekends, between the hours of 06:00 and 17:00 / planting of the central island, circular nodes and green strips. During the works, one lane in each direction will be closed for 200-250 meters at all times and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane. On the Nicosia-Kokkinotrimithia highway, from Thursday 23/11/2023 until Thursday 14/12/2023, excluding Fridays and weekends, between the hours of 09:00 - 14:00, maintenance work will be carried out on the greenery of the central islands, by the Department of Forestry. During the works, the tangential traffic lane of the central island will be partially closed, for a length of 1500m. about every time and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane. In Strovolos, in the period 17/10/2023 – 31/1/2024, a section of Strovolou Street will be closed from its junction with Hydras Street to its junction with Pentelis Street, as part of the "Road within Tseriou" Project. within the framework of the 6th phase of the works. During the above phase, traffic from and to Nicosia will be diverted to Pentelis, Veroia and Archiepiskopou Kyprianou streets. For the above traffic detour there will be appropriate temporary markings, which drivers should follow. In Lakatamia, works will be carried out on Tseriou Avenue and Strovolou Street, from Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue to Pefkou Street, from Friday 12/5/2023 and for a period of 20 months, as part of the improvement/construction of Ippokratous, Argyroupoleos, and Department Avenues of Tseriou Avenue and Strovolou Street. At the same time, during the same period, as part of the reconstruction of Hippocrates Avenue, Themistokleous Street and Areos Avenue will be closed from their junction with Themistokleous Street to Nikias Street and Kentaurou Street respectively. As part of the "Road within Tseri" Project, as part of the 6th phase of the works, in the period 17/10/2023 - 31/1/2024, a section of Strovolou Street will be closed from its junction with Hydra Street to its junction with Pentelis Street. During the above phase, traffic from and to Nicosia will be diverted to Pentelis, Veroia and Archiepiskopou Kyprianou streets. For the above traffic detour there will be appropriate temporary markings, which drivers should follow. In the district of Nicosia, on Arediou-Farmakas road, from Monday 20/11/2023 until Friday 01/12/2023, (excluding weekends), from 07:00 in the morning until 17:30 in the afternoon, will be held asphalt paving works. During the works, one lane of the road will remain closed for approximately 150m and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent traffic lane (stop & go). Also in the province of Nicosia, on roads in Akaki and Peristerona, from Monday 20/11/2023 until Wednesday 22/11/2023, from 09:00 in the morning until 15:00 in the afternoon, railing maintenance works will be carried out . During the works, one lane of the road will remain closed for approximately 150m and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane using portable stop & go traffic lights. In the wider area of Larnaca and Famagusta from Wednesday 06/09/2023 and for a period of approximately 4 months, a private company will carry out works to replace outdated signalling equipment at 33 light-controlled junctions and 12 Pelican-type pedestrian crossings, with a new low-consumption type ( Extra Low Voltage-ELV) with LED lamps, Pedestrian Countdown and touch-type demand system for pedestrians. The equipment replacement work at each point will be completed within one day, unless unforeseen, and during the work the light-controlled junctions and pedestrian crossings will remain out of service unless it is deemed necessary to install temporary traffic lights. The above contributions will be preceded by civil engineering works for the infrastructures.

In the province of Nicosia, at the Tseri bypass (Halepiano road), from Saturday May 6, 2023, from 7.00 in the morning and for a period of six (6) months, works will be carried out at the junction with the road under construction that will join the Perimetriko Motorway. The traffic lanes will be moved slightly south for a period of 3 months and then further north for another 3 months. In Tseri, Nicosia province, from September 1, 2022, works will be carried out on the Road within Tseri, which will last 78 weeks and is expected to be completed by February 28, 2024. Works will be carried out within the Municipality of Tseri to upgrade the main road that passes through the Municipality. More specifically, the works will include the construction of a two-lane road (with additional clockwise lanes at the traffic lights) within the Municipality of Tseri for a length of approximately 2.5 kilometers. It also includes the construction of sections of bypass roads (K. Misiaulis, Salaminas, T. Anthia, S. Papalazarou, etc.), in a total area of approximately 600 meters, which contribute to the main road. In the project, a small roundabout will be built connecting Strovolos and Agios Georgios streets at its northern end. Along the road, parking spaces will be created on both sides to serve the commercial areas of the Municipality as well as the two Primary Schools included in the project. The project also includes the construction of sidewalks, the installation of traffic lights, the undergrounding of all utilities, horizontal and vertical signage, the installation of new street lighting and other related works. Depending on each phase of the works, the relevant announcements will be issued that will describe the works to be performed as well as the corresponding traffic regulations. In the province of Larnaca, as part of the construction works of the "Improvement of the Larnaca - Dekelia Coastal Road Phase C" Project, works will be carried out on the Larnaca - Dekelia coastal road despite the Larnaca Marine Club in both directions, from September 8, 2023 until 10 December 2023. The road will be closed from the Larnaca Maritime Club roundabout to the height of Dramas Street in Livadia. Traffic will be diverted to Navarinou Street through the roundabout of the Larnaca Maritime Club and Michalaki Karaoli, Ellados, Navarinou and Drama streets in the Municipality of Livadia. Part of Navarinou Street as well as the entire Drama Street will be one-way. Drivers are urged to use caution. Also in the province of Larnaca, on Friday 19/05/2023, the reconstruction works of the Ormidia - Xylofago road will begin, which will last for approximately 12 months, until the end of May 2024. The Project is an improvement of a part of the existing road that connects the community Ormideia with the old Larnaca - Dekelia - Famagusta road. The section of the existing road that is being improved begins immediately after the exit from the residential area (near the junction with Menelaou Ludemi Street) and ends at the junction with the old Larnaca – Dekelia – Famagusta road. Also in the province of Larnaca, as part of the construction works of the "Improvement of the Ormideia - Xylofagos Road" Project, from August 28, 2023 until July 17, 2024, work will be carried out on Anexartisias Street. The road will be closed to traffic in both directions, from the junction with Menelaou Ludemi Street to the junction with the old Larnaca-Dekelia-Ammochosto road. During the works, traffic will be diverted to an existing parallel road (old Larnaca-Dekelia-Ammochosto road). The movement of vehicles and pedestrians on adjacent roads and properties will be done according to the corresponding local arrangements. In the province of Larnaca, the Larnaca-Dekelia coastal road, from the height of Athens Street in Oroklini to the Oroklini Fire Station, will be closed to traffic in both directions from 20/11/2023 until 10/5/2024 , in the framework of the construction works of the "Improvement of the Larnaca - Dekelia Coastal Road Phase C" Project. The traffic will be diverted via Mesogeiou Street and drivers are urged to use caution. In the district of Paphos, the road Aspro Potamos (borders of the State Forest) - Toxeutras in the Akamas National Forest Park is still closed, due to improvement works on the road network. The public, to avoid inconvenience but also for safety reasons, is invited to avoid using the road and use the roads that lead from the communities of Inia, Arodon and Kathika to the Park. In particular, those who will visit Lara should use the "Inia-Lara" road and those who will visit Avakas the "Pano Arodes-Avakas" road. Land owners, farmers, breeders and other professionals operating in the area can use the "Pegia-Osia Matrona-Avakas" road. On the Nicosia-Troodos road, from Tuesday 6/6/2023 and for a period of approximately 6 months, as part of the construction of the Astromeritis-Evrycho highway, retaining wall construction will be carried out along the Nicosia-Troodos highway in the Koutrafa Community, in the Koronia area. Traffic on the Nicosia – Troodos highway will be conducted through a bypass road parallel to the existing road. Also in the district of Limassol, on a section of the road Limassol - Agros, by the village of Gerasa, in the period 18/9/2023 - 12/12/2023, between the hours 07:00 - 15:30, construction works of retaining walls will be carried out and excavation of slopes by a private Contracting Company. During the above period, one of the two traffic lanes of the road will be closed for a length of 120m. approximately and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane, with alternating traffic management with temporary traffic lights. In Germasogeia, on Agios Georgiou Street, the work on the Project "Improvement of the Bypass Road of Germasogeia, Phase A" continues as normal. In the period 01/11/2023 – 29/1/2024, works will be carried out, during which the section of Agios Georgiou Street from its junction with Mikis Theodorakis Avenue, to its junction with Michalaki Karaolis Street, will is closed to traffic. Traffic to and from the Muttayakas area will be via Potamia and Rigaina streets. Also from Wednesday 01/11/2023, the following traffic arrangements will apply: (a) Mylou Street will be open to traffic from its junction with the roundabout of Agia Paraskevi Street to its junction with Potamias Street. (b) The two uphill lanes of Agia Paraskevi Street from its junction with Patmos Street to the roundabout beyond Mylou Street will be fully open to traffic. (c) The roundabout at the junction of Agia Paraskevi, Mylos and Mikis Theodorakis will be fully open to traffic. (d) The rest of the traffic arrangements remain as they are. Also for the Project "Improvement of the Bypass Road of Germasogeia, Phase A", in the period from Wednesday 8/11/2023 until Thursday 30/11/2023, work will be carried out at the junction of Paros Street with Tellyrias Street. During the works, the section of the junction of the two streets will be closed to traffic. The movement of traffic to and from the area will take place via M. Theodorakis Avenue and Kos Street. Also, from Wednesday 8/11/2023 until 22/12/2023, work will be carried out on the eastern part of Isabella Street from its junction with Mikis Theodorakis Avenue to its junction with Potamias Street. During the works, the road section will be closed to traffic and traffic to and from the adjacent eastern area will be via an adjacent, purpose-built temporary road section. The rest of the traffic arrangements remain as they are. As part of the construction works of Phase 1 of the Road Network of the Vassilikos Energy Center, in Mari, from March 23, 2023, on the road between the EAC substation and the Vassilikos River in Mari, north of the cement plant facilities, system construction works will be carried out sewage system and one lane will be closed to traffic. Traffic will be regulated with traffic lights. The movement of vehicles and pedestrians, on adjacent roads and residences will be done according to the corresponding local arrangements. In the period 6/11/2023 – 5/12/2023, between the hours of 09:00 – 13:00, every day except weekends, on Eleftherias, Acropolis, Australia, Spyros Kyprianou Avenues in the Larnaka District, maintenance and beautification works will be carried out central islets from the Municipality of Aradippou. The works for the Project "Improvement of the Bypass Road of Germasogeia, Phase A" continue as usual. In the period from Wednesday 8/11/2023 until Thursday 30/11/2023, work will be carried out at the junction of Parou Street and Tellyrias Street. During the execution of the works, the section of the junction of the two streets will be closed to traffic. The movement of traffic to and from the area will take place via M. Theodorakis Avenue and Kos Street. Also, from Wednesday 8/11/2023 until 22/12/2023, work will be carried out on the eastern part of Isabella Street from its junction with Mikis Theodorakis Avenue to its junction with Potamias Street. During the works, the section of road will be closed to traffic and traffic to and from the adjacent eastern area will be via an adjacent temporary section of road constructed for this purpose. The rest of the traffic arrangements remain as they are. Between the dates 13/11/2023 – 08/12/2023, a private company will carry out traffic mitigation measures on the main road Trimiklini – Platron (E802), within the Community of Mandria. During the execution of the works, one traffic lane will be closed for a length of 100m. approximately and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane using temporary traffic lights. From Monday 13/11/2023 and for a period of approximately five months, work will be carried out on the construction of roundabouts - the construction of a dividing island and temporary parking spaces, road surface maintenance, the implementation of traffic management and road safety measures on Kolonaki Avenues in Agios Athanasios and Spyros Kyprianou in Germasogeia. During the works, there will be two-way traffic in one lane in each direction at all times, except when it will be necessary to close one or both lanes. In these cases the work will be carried out during the night (Monday – Thursday) or Sundays. The daily work will be carried out between the hours of 06:00 - 17:00, Sundays 06:00 - 18:00 and the night work between the hours of 21:00 until 06:00 the next day. From 13/11/2023 until 21/11/2023, between the hours of 08:00 - 16:00, on the road Athienos - Avdellero - Aradippou, cable pulling works will be carried out on the slope by a private telecommunications company. During the execution of the works, part of one lane of the road will be closed at points over wells and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane using the STOP and GO system.
