HUNTING SEASON STARTS 5 NOVEMBER

START OF THE EPIDEMIC PREY HUNTING PERIOD AND PROTECTION OF FORESTS FROM FIRES
The Forest Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment due to the commencement of the hunting season on Sunday, November 5, 2023 warmly appeals to hunters who will go out in the countryside and forests, to be very careful during their excursions and avoid fire altogether fire in unauthorized areas, or the throwing of cigarettes and lit matches. It is emphasized that the risk of causing and spreading fire, despite being reduced due to rainfall, remains very high.
It is recalled that in recent years the fires have destroyed large areas both in forests and in the countryside, which were an important habitat for game and wildlife in general, with serious impacts on the natural environment.
It is also emphasized that the disposal of garbage and empty cartridges into the environment is a serious pollution and that this is also prohibited by the "Wild Birds and Game Protection and Management Act". Therefore, hunters are called not to discard trash and pick up empty cartridges.
If you notice smoke or fire, in or near the forest, inform, without delay, the nearest Forest Station or call immediately 1407 (Forest Department) or 112 (Fire Department) - free call.
