GANGS MENACING DRIVERS AND PARTICULARLY THE ELDERLY
Unfortunately, gangs are once again circulating in carparks [often those of supermarkets] targeting drivers and particularly the elderly demanding money for 'replaced' windscreen wipers, or threatening damage to vehicles if the motorist does not pay up.
There was a report yesterday that a lady was targeted who stopped at a bakery on Mesoghi Road. When she returned to her car, the expensive wiper blades were already being ripped off, with the man concerned telling her they were 'damaged'. They were virtually brand new Lexus blades but were ruined by the way the man ripped them off their housing.
In the instance on Mesoghi Road, no vehicle was seen, but the man was light skinned, round faced, and wandered off down the road carrying a Sports Direct large bag.
