ETAP, PASYXE PAFOS & HOTELIERS OF THE POLIS AREA

 



ETAP, PASYXE PAFOS & HOTELIERS OF THE POLIS CHRYSOCHOUS AREA At the initiative of ETAP and PASYXE Paphos, but also after requests from hoteliers in the area to receive initiatives for heaps of perennial issues plaguing the region, a meeting took place yesterday 31 October in the area of Poles Chrysochous.

During the meeting attended by the President of PASYXE, several hoteliers of the area, representative of Deputy Ministry of Tourism and officials of ETAP Paphos, important issues were discussed and agreed decisions on the following:

a) There was an exchange of views and a detailed discussion regarding the course of the 2023 tourist season but also for the possible prospects or challenges of the next period 2024. b) A recording and presentation of various issues that plague the region over time and in particular within the limits of the Polis Municipality and coastal area. Among other things, the participants agreed on existing situation characterized by relatively low levels of cleanliness, the very strong visual pollution, the disorderly built environment, the illegal extensions of several properties, the inadequacy in public transport, the disheartening situation in the port of Latsio and the third-world image in the camping ground and in general in matters that contribute to the already degraded image that is emitted by area. c) At the same time, an extensive discussion took place between those present who, at the same time, through their answers to a related structured questionnaire, have submitted their opinions regarding the course and the image that the area in question should and wish to have. Relevant results of the recording will be communicated to the participants and other interested parties in the following days. d) There was an extensive presentation of the work of ETAP Paphos Region related to the area, the presentation of which the hoteliers expressed their satisfaction with, while ways forward were discussed strengthening efforts both for the promotion and upgrading of experiences. e) The next steps have been decided, while the said group/local committee will deal extensively with the problems of the region while at a later stage this group will be expanded with other economic ones agencies, branches and local authorities. At the end of the meeting, all parties agreed on a new effort to upgrade the local image and halt the decline of the area in view of the restructuring of the local authority with the main goal being to further rational development of the wider area
