The two suspects were brought before the Limassol District Court today in connection with the mafia execution of Thanasis Kalogeropoulos committed last Monday morning.
The two were transferred to the Court under draconian security measures, while at the same time outside the building of the Limassol District Court were people from the victim's environment as well as strong police forces. One of the two suspects entered the room in a bulletproof vest.
They are two men aged 41 and 44, respectively, with one arrested on suspicion of premeditated murder and the second on suspicion of aiding and abetting the murder. Initially, the 41-year-old resident of Paphos was arrested, as an arrest warrant was hanging against him and he was wanted for an arson case committed about a month ago in Larnaca.
The 41-year-old suspect was arrested and taken to the offices of the ICF of Limassol after testimonies that wanted him as the driver of the motorcycle on which the two executioners were riding. In fact, one of the key elements that led to the 41-year-old's appearance for testimony was his features, which resemble those of the motorcycle driver.
As philenews reported yesterday, under questioning, the 41-year-old allegedly said that he was staying at the 44-year-old's residence in Kofinou. It should be noted that the investigations of the ICF of Limassol will be extended to the Central Prisons as the 41-year-old is a person who was convicted in the case of the theft of thousands of bullets stored in a container of a 64-year-old licensed gunsmith from Limassol.
The two have been remanded in custody for 8 days.
