The Police, in the context of investigating cases of vehicle theft, causing malicious damage, possession of drugs and other crimes, proceeded to arrest a person yesterday.
This is a 31-year-old man, who was taken into custody to facilitate investigations.
The arrest of the 31-year-old was preceded yesterday morning by information about the theft of a van-type car in the central area of Nicosia.
Immediately members of the Z Police team acted and located the stolen car in the area of Aglantzia, where the driver, in his attempt to escape, lost control and crashed into an adjacent wall of an apartment building, where he was immobilized.
The driver attempted to flee on foot, but was pursued by members of Squad Z, where he was eventually stopped and arrested.
A physical check carried out on him revealed various evidence, as well as a small amount of narcotics.
The 31-year-old man, in his voluntary statement, allegedly admitted to a number of vehicle theft cases (cars, motorcycles and mopeds), which were committed between the months of July 2023 until today.
He also admitted that in two areas of Nicosia, which he indicated, he burned two of the stolen cars.
So far, the 31 year old appears to be involved in 16 other cases.

In the context of investigating a case concerning incidents that occurred on 15/11/2023 in Limassol, the Police proceeded today on the basis of a court warrant to the arrest of one more person.
He is a 47-year-old man who was detained to facilitate interrogations.
It is recalled that in relation to the above case, four persons have already been arrested and charged in writing.

In the last 24 hours, YKAN proceeded to the detection and seizure of about three kilos of cannabis, in cooperation with the Customs Authorities.
The quantity of drugs was detected on 22/11/2023 in the context of the actions taken by YKAN in cooperation with the Customs Authorities, for the detection and seizure of narcotic substances imported into the Republic of Cyprus through airports.
In the context of the above actions, a check was carried out yesterday on a package that was considered suspicious, in which a quantity of cannabis weighing approximately 2,970 grams was found.

As part of the investigation of the case, the Police proceeded today on the basis of court warrants to arrest two persons.
They are a 22-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman, who were detained to facilitate interrogations.
The YKAN continues the examinations.

A 42-year-old woman from Limassol informed police on Friday she had fallen victim to a cryptocurrency scam and lost a total of €19,200.
The woman said she had been contacted online by an unknown person who said he resided in Switzerland.
The man convinced her to download two cryptocurrency applications onto her mobile phone, to create two electronic wallets, and to send him all her card details.
The man then proceeded to take €19,200 out of the woman’s bank accounts.
Having lost the €19,200, and with the man asking for more money, the woman realised she had been the victim of fraud, and contacted the police.
