Important evidence was put before the Limassol District Court during the application for renewal of the detention of the two suspects, aged 22 and 21.
For their part, the lawyers of their two clients did not object to the request and asked the investigating judge clarifying questions.
The Limassol District Court approved the request of the investigators of the ICF Limassol, ordering their detention for another 5 days. As is known, the two young men were arrested last week on suspicion of the murder of Thanasis Kalogeropoulos.
Today's proceedings began at 10:30, with the investigator of the case, Kostas Michael, reading the facts report of the case under investigation.
As Mr. Michael mentioned, in the burnt vehicle used by the executioners to execute Thanasis Kalogeropoulos and which was burned after the murder in the area of Germasogeia, apart from the burnt weapons and clothes, bullets were found.
The examiner of the case said that reliable information has been obtained that on October 25 two persons, mentioned in the information by name and one is the 21-year-old suspect, followed Kalogeropoulos to murder him, but their plan was not completed for an unknown reason.
The investigator also said that the vehicles in the possession of the two suspects were recorded by CCTV visiting the villa in Skarinou in the days before the murder, noting that they were coming and going. Also, one of the BMW brand vehicles on October 26 burned down in an area south of the villa.
This is the vehicle that the two suspects were driving the previous day (25/10). The vehicle was found to be stolen and had stolen license plates belonging to a Mazda Demio vehicle.
A black spray was found in the 22-year-old suspect's vehicle, which appears to have been used by the attackers to alter the characteristics of the vehicle of Kalogeropoulos' murder. In particular, it seems that the door handles of Demio were painted black so that he would not be recognized.
At the 21-year-old's home, a tracksuit resembling the one worn by the 41-year-old motorcycle driver and alleged hitman was found.
According to what was heard in court, the 41-year-old's telecommunications data show that he was receiving a signal from an area of the villa in Skarinou belonging to the 44-year-old suspect. His mobile phone signal is also detected receiving at dawn on the day of the murder (30/10) in Livadia, where the 21-year-old resides. He allegedly went in the murder vehicle to pick him up so they could put their plan into action.
The two suspects are being investigated for six offences, including conspiracy to murder, premeditated murder, possession, transport and use of a firearm, possession, transport and use of explosives, arson of a vehicle and theft.
