They are still shocked at the YKAN, after they found drug-impregnated sheets of paper (A4 size glues), which were transported in order to be passed on to the Central Prison by a prison guard.
Analysis of evidence found in the prison guard's vehicle, which was stopped last Monday night on his way to duty, revealed that the nine sheets of paper he was carrying contained a cannabinoid-like drug.
Information from "F" states that each sheet of paper contained 600 squares which constituted a small dose of drugs.
As the deputy commander of YKAN explained yesterday, each square would be cut and then inserted under the user's tongue.
If the multiplication is done, then the nine glues had 5,400 microdoses of drugs. As Mr. Sergides explained, the impregnation of a drug in such glue is a common phenomenon, which is why it is detected by machines at airports and elsewhere, but the control must be targeted.
It is noted that in prisons there is no machine for detecting such drugs, nor is there a urine test to see if a convict has used drugs.
Meanwhile, the prison guard suspected of possession of drugs has not given way to the YKAN after exercising his right to remain silent. The Minister of Justice has asked the National Public Health Service, in a letter, for the suspension of the prison officer while the investigations are ongoing, while for the same case a convict for whom the drugs appear to have been intended, as well as two of his relatives, were questioned.
It is noted that the adhesives with the drugs were wrapped with duct tape and forwarded for scientific examinations.
