Following the signing on October 27 between the Municipality of Pafos and the company that won the contract, the contract for the construction of the Student Residences of the Municipality of Pafos, which will serve the students of the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) operating from this year in the city, as well as other academic institutions, is entering the implementation stage. The municipal authority is even working at a full pace for the start of the works, since this is considered the next big bet for the proper functioning of the city as an academic pillar.
The project, as it is known, will be built on land of five thousand square meters purchased by the Municipality for 1.2 million euros, opposite the CUT building. In it, 203 rooms will be built, while in the next phase open green areas, tennis and basketball courts, as well as parking spaces will be created. The student dormitories of the Pafos Municipality are expected to be completed in 11 months.
The Mayor of Pafos, Phedon Phedonos, thanked the ecclesiastical committee of Panagia Pantanassa for agreeing to unify the plot that houses the Pafos CUT, the plot that hosts the church of Panagia Pantanassa and the area where the student dormitories of the Pafos Municipality will be built. He also pointed out that the establishment of the CUT in Pafos means increasing the critical mass of the city, a step towards creating a new pillar in the economy of the city and the province, contributing to the upgrading of the city's tourism industry and tourism product, the creation of new jobs, the stimulation of the city's cultural life and much more.
The construction of the student dormitories of the Pafos Municipality has been undertaken from the planning, to the execution and management, by the services of the municipal authority.
