The Central Bank will appeal against the decision of the Limassol District Court in favour of a lawsuit by a Russian depositor in Laiki Bank, who lost almost €800,000 due to the haircut of deposits, obliges the state to compensate the plaintiff with €780,000.
Specifically, the Central Bank of Cyprus with today's announcement regarding the decision issued on 8 November 2023 by the Limassol District Court in Lawsuit no. 5617/13, notes that it has studied the decision with its legal advisers and intends to proceed with the filing of an appeal.
The announcement also emphasizes that many judgments have been issued at first instance on similar issues, which argue the opposite.
