BAROMETRIC LOW WILL AFFECT CYPRUS - RAIN, WIND AND SNOW IN TROODOS

Weak low pressure is affecting the region, while a barometric low with frontal activity organized on Friday in the Balkans, moves southeast and is expected to affect the region from early Saturday evening.

Today, the weather will be partly cloudy and at times mostly cloudy, while a few isolated showers may fall. The winds will initially blow mainly northeast to southeast, weak to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort, to later become mainly southwest to northwest, of the same intensity. The sea will be a little turbulent. The temperature will rise to around 26 degrees in the interior and coasts and 16 degrees in the higher mountains.

Tonight, the weather will remain partly cloudy and at times mostly cloudy. The winds will blow mainly southwest to northwest, weak and transient locally to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will be a little turbulent. The temperature will drop to 14 degrees in the interior, around 15 degrees on the coast and 7 degrees in the higher mountains.

On Saturday, the weather will initially be partly cloudy, but in the afternoon it will gradually become mostly cloudy and isolated showers are expected, mainly in the western half of the island. From early evening local rain and isolated thunderstorms are expected, while very strong to strong winds will blow in the area. The temperature is not expected to change significantly and will remain above average climatic values.

On Sunday, the weather will be mostly cloudy at times and after midday localised showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected. Snow or sleet is expected to fall on the highest peaks of Troodos. Very strong to strong winds will continue to blow in the area. The temperature will fall, to fluctuate close to the average climatic values.

On Monday, increased clouds will be observed intermittently. The temperature is not expected to change significantly and will remain close to average climatic values.
